Thanks very much for this video. I followed your instructions earlier today in our downstairs toilet and it worked a treat. I had been dreading doing the job, because I thought I'd have to disconect the radiator from the system and remove it from the wall completely. Awesome thank you, I have seen my husband do this but never watched enough! I had managed to lift the rad but didn't loosen of the nuts so couldn't lay it down, now my skirting board replacement will be easy! Thank you.

I have brackets on my radiators that allow the radiators to tilt/pivot "when full" to the floor in less than half a minute. Dead easy for decorating or cleaning behind.

Use a pair of mole grips go hold the pipe steady while using the spanner!

Not advisable for larger heavier rads.

ALWAYS use two spanners one on each nut to loosen the TRV and lock shield or you may break the joint.

Most times the pipes wont have any slack so this wont work. Just use a mini roller.

@@bikeman123 most Uk home shave timber floors and therefore typically have slack. I've never had a timber floor whrere this hasn't worked. This is also helpful when removing wall paper.

I have this exact radiator but the issue I have right now is that someone left old wallpaper behind and mould has been growing during last weeks and I just noticed it, really annoying.

Is it safe to leave the radiator dropped for a couple of days while I make small repairs and paint the wall? Also, can the central heating remain on while it’s dropped? Thanks for the great video

Yes it’s fine, just tighten it back up while it’s down until you’re ready to bring it back up again.

Great way of decorating, I have seen were there is only one value, so I asume system will need draining with only one value??

It should have one on each side but if it does only have one then unfortunately you will have to drain the system

I did this but I don't think i loosened one of the nuts enough and it caused a leak further down the pipe. I know this approach works but do take care

Thanks for this video! btw I have a slightly unrelated question, about skirting boards that have thick badly done paint on them. Is it possible to sand them back down to an even smooth level or is it best to just replace the skirting board entirely?

What do you mean the top up the water pressure? What should the pressure be and how do you do that? Thanks for the video.

There will be switch or lever valve on your Hot Water Boiler to top up the pressure. Open the valve and watch the pressure gauge on the boiler rise until it's within the manufacturers recommended pressure range

Don't know if anyone will be able to help! But... I am wanting to buy a radiator cover, My radiator is 90cm's from the floor, most covers are 82cm. Is there an easy way to lower the radiator, so I do not have to buy a more niche size radiator cover. Thankyou :)

Thanks for the video, say my radiators haven't been moved in a decade and the nut is locked, would you use wd40 on the nut to try loosen the thread? Light banging hasn't worked, cheers

Hi make sure you’ve tightened it properly. If it’s leaking in the joint that you loosened then it might feel a bag joint that was disturbed so you’d need to drain system and either Replace the connection or try some pTFE tape on the threads
