Dropping in on quarter-pipe is a big step forwards, but let’s turn things around: why not drop in fakie? Because you’re afraid? Don’t be. Here’s how to drop in backwards without falling.

That's the best explanation for stalling and the fakie drop in I've found. Helped me a lot. For my brain it was important to have a handrail to grab at first. When I stalled too much I pushed me back a little bit into the transition. From there it was only a little yet thrilling step to do the drop in also without the handrail. Thank you :)

You make it look easy but it must be nerve wracking at first. Shoulders above toes is the trick to stair riding as well like you mentioned in your past video as well! 👍

Thank you! 🤘 The trick is incremental growth: start small and raise the stakes tiny step by tiny step. When I finally decided to drop in fakie in the bowl, I was pretty sure it would be alright. I knew what to expect and what to do, so I was calm and confident. And I’ve taken up the habit to only do things that are within my abilities. I’ve got to _feel_ I can do it before I do it. :-)

Just in time, realizing that I've been doing grinds on transition and coming out fakie so I must also be capable of just dropping in backwards

Hi, really clear tutorial, cheers. Possibly a stupid question: is your supporting leg the front leg (left) or the back leg (right)? Thanks
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor 2 ай бұрын
@@Ianto4286-y5f Certainly not a stupid question! For me, when riding fakie, my left leg is my supporting leg, while my right leg is leading the way. I think that makes my right leg the front leg and my left leg the back leg, no? Anyway, most of my weight is on my left leg.

Help me ! Dominant leg Is the leg that i kick a ball? Is the leg that i put First in front when i walk? I m not sure which leg Is my dominant ... some times It seems the right some times the left🤕
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor Жыл бұрын
Good question! Your dominant leg is the one you feel most comfortable putting in front when you take on the scissor position. You feel it even better when rolling fakie. My dominant side is my right side, so if I'm rolling backwards, my right foot takes the lead and I'm looking over my right shoulder. Looking over my left shoulder with my left foot taking the lead feels _totally_ awkward. When I'm dropping in fakie, I first place my non-dominant left foot on the coping, I shift my weight over the coping and from then on, my right foot takes the lead and I'm rolling backwards on the ramp. Hope that explanation helps a bit?

I have only a really steep quarter-pipe in my local park so I will be forced to drop in from this frightening monster of a quarter-pipe to learn😭
@TheRollingRaptor
@TheRollingRaptor 9 ай бұрын
That's quite a bummer. But still you can build up by rolling up the quarter and rolling back down fakie over and over again, every time a bit higher, until you can stall on the coping and roll down again. Once you're familiar with that, you can drop in fakie, even on a really steep quarter-pipe. 💪
