You can't always do this but when you can, it is the best option! Good video!

Pretty nice setup you got and definitely saves costs for insurance or homeowner on the repair side of the claim. Anyone else watching this should know that clean water becomes dirty water within just 2 or 3 days so if you aren't able to start drying it up like this within the first day or two then you'll need to rip it out in order to properly treat for mold.

Thank you for this interesting video. I work in water mitigation and tenting the tile floor is an inyeresting idea I will try out at my next opporunity. I have a ground level master bedroom with a ceramic tile floor (grouted) on top of a concrete slab with water trapped in between. Right now I am running two dehumidifiers and two air movers. The space might be a little two large to tent (but not impossible). Do you have any tips or suggestions to help me dry this bad boy out?

I have the same question as @stevekohl1419. Porcelain tile (grouted) over concrete slab in a ground floor bedroom and we just had our 20 year flood. We pulled all the baseboards and have used dehumidifiers and fans to dry out the drywall. I can see the salt residue between some of the tiles and my meter jumps in some areas. How can I be sure it's as dry as it should be?

Going to attempt this on my tile floors. Slab underneath though. Will it work without ducting the air out? I can setup a containment w plastic around space heater and force hot air, but no way to heat to 120 then shutoff until it reaches 110 like you do in your video. Thx for the tips!

@@stevekohl1419 didn’t work at all for me, unfortunately. I think if I had access underneath via crawl or basement I could have dried the wood w dehumidifier. But ran it for like 3 days and it made no diff. Ended up ripping up the entire shower and fixing the failed pan, which was never allowing the water to drain properly, as the drain was higher than the liner. Good luck on your end!

Likely a dehumidifier and an air mover. Not sure what the fancy temperature gauge that brings the room up to 120 then expells air until it reaches 110.

@stevekohl1419 I rent both from homedepot to dry my marble tiles. It left it in the bathroom for 3 days, and it still looks wet. The surface of the tile is dry but for some reason, it still looks wet. Any help would he greatly appreciated

E-tes heat unit is what we used in this video. It has an air mover that pushes the air through the heater.

Percentage what should a bathroom tile floor read after water leak 12 to 14% or 7 to 9%? I did a little research and hearing/ reading both answers. Thank you Great video BTW

That is a good question. There are a few factors that determine what the drying goal should be. It will depend on what your areas standard WMC (Wood Moisture Content) is. A dry state or country would be different than a place that has higher general humidity. It depends on what meter you are using, and how you are taking the reading. Most tiles, travertine, stone floors will give you a reading above 15-20% when it is dry on many moisture meters. We are trying to get the wet areas of the tile to read the same as the areas of time that are dry. When we are talking about wood floors, in my area we are trying to get the sub-floor to 7-8%. Depending on the time of year. Hope that helps.

Several years ago, before I learned how to turn off the toilet water, I got a large "clog" stuck and flushed. I had a HUGE amout of "dirty water" flood on to the entire floor. Now I have a wet floor from a water leak just below the bathroom, under my mobile home. The leaking pipe has been repaired. How do I get the linoleum and wooden floor under it dry that previously had a lot of "dirty water"on it? Thank you for any suggestions!

You are going to need remove the linoleum floor as it will trap moisture underneath. Set up a dehumidifier and some fans to dry out the subfloor.

Yeah. You are going to have to remove the LVP and then wipe it down and dry it, dry the concrete, then reinstall.

@@trahuynh_usa drying under laminate or LVP is super difficult. It’s “waterproof” from the top. When water gets underneath it. It is “waterproof” from the bottom. I have not found a way to make sure that I get the water out without removing it to the end of the water.
