Mind blown! You remind me so much of myself at your age lol. If I saw something I wanted but it wasn’t in my budget, I made it happen. I tell my (grown now ☺️) kids all the time I was DIYing before DIY was cool. Sharing! ♥️

Just an idea next time when you line the bath tub with the plastic when you’re ready to drain poke holes in it where the drain is maybe that way it will all hopefully drain straight though!

Question. Do you think if you would have done it piece by piece you wouldn't have had the issue with the color difference. Also.. do you think if you would have done it the color would have been consistent. I also have a slip cover couch . But it's a very large sectional. About 2 times as big as yours. Using the bathtub would be out of the question as I have so many pieces. It's about 41.1 pounds of fabric 😳. I want to dye it but Im nervous it will be splotchy. I also need to mention its been bleached before.

Try to bleach your fabric first. I dyed my duvet cover from bright green to kind of deep washed purple colour. Bleach first, still greenish but lighter. Then I added deep brown Rit. Did not anticipate what colour the cover will become.Love the final result. Especially enjoying the unpredictable 😄

I want to dye a dark tan recliner dark brown, no slip cover. Do you think the spray bottle method and a carpet cleaner would work?
@NoelleTateHome2 жыл бұрын
Yes! I had a friend try it like that and it worked great for her! She actually took the piece outside and rinsed it off with a water hose but i bet the carpet cleaner just with water would work good. Just make sure to let the piece completely dry before rising it.

How would i die the back of my sofa as i dont have removeable slip covers, what do you recommend ?
@NoelleTateHome3 жыл бұрын
If your just drying the back you could take take it outside, fill up a spray bottle with the dye and spray on a generous amount and then let it sit for a couple hours or over night. You’ll need to rinse it off so there isn’t any color transfer so if you have a power washer you could use that to rinse it or honestly a water hose would probably work too and then just let it dry! That’s what I would do lol hope that’s helpful!

How much did you end up spending on all the dyes ? I can't help but wonder if it would be worth it or if it would cost just as much as buying a new slip cover from ikea or wherever 🤔
@pinkcloud02 жыл бұрын
I think you can buy rit dye for 4 or 5 dollars at Walmart and she used 10 bottles for her sofa so around 50 dollars is what it was not bad
@cassies1232 жыл бұрын
Beware! I just did this with a white sofa slipcover that I bought on FB Marketplace and the whole thing turned out blotchy when trying to dye it a dark blue. I agitated the entire 45 minutes each load I did. I'm thinking that the previous owner had bleached it some and the fabric was damaged and some spots didn't take the dye. I went back over it and sprayed, didn't work like it did for Noelle. I then re-dyed it in the washing machine and it also didn't work. Still splotchy - too bad because the color is beautiful.
@lblincoe20942 жыл бұрын
Did you make sure to keep the fabric below water level when agitating? I actually used old towels and layered them over top of my fabric so the fabric would always stay submerged underneath of the towels. If any of the fabric is exposed to the air instead of being completely covered by the dye bath, that can make a difference in consistency. I didn't dye a slipcover, I was actually dying canvas drop cloths to use as inexpensive fabric to reupholster with, but they were every bit as big and heavy and doing this worked beautifully.
@cassies1232 жыл бұрын
@@lblincoe2094 I didn't but was constantly agitating for the entire time. Some of the places where there were folds and piping didn't get much dye at all. I also think that the fabric could have been previously bleached so that may have kept it from accepting the dye. I think my Pottery Barn slipcover was also just too big and bulky.
