You made that torso crack look easy lol I've seen mf's drilling into them and all sorts to get them apart.
@MikeysActionFigures5624 ай бұрын
lol yeah I honestly get people telling me I pre cracked it, but I even went live and did it with a brand new figure. Some figures honestly have been way more difficult to crack but usually I get lucky like this

Definitely using these tips! Have you checked lately on this custom to see if the red dye has faded?

Yes and it has, I made a video on this and it should be in the comments. I was able to find a spray on sealer that keeps the dye from removing. I’ll be making a video on that when I know fursure it works

Nice, thanks for the demonstration. I've always used a drill to get a pilot hole to pry the torso open, your method looks way easier and less damaging to the plastic. Have you found it helpful to heat it up before cracking? Also, which base figure is that? I have found that not all suit bodies are the same, the young Nick Fury body (holster straps on the chest) has much better legs than the Chameleon body, but the inner waist peg is a different diameter so it took some Dremeling to kitbash those bodies together. I like your final look and may try this myself.
@MikeysActionFigures562 Жыл бұрын
I actually used to drill holes before as well and I always hated seeing little holes in my figs. I noticed that heating makes the torso harder to crack because the plastic is more bend and warps when I apply to much pressure. I’m glad this video helped you! I plan on doing one of me cracking different torso’s in the future

Can you dye i grey a figure from gi Joe classified? A torso to be more specific

Yes but the plastic on a torso needs more time to fully dye. Pants dye way faster

I got to say you made it look easy but it is not that easy it is terribly harder than you made it look. And that dye will keep bleeding it's recommended to try and clear coat it in a matte finish I've dyed many many figures already but there is always a chance of bleeding. I have a red ninja that I had to clear coat several times I accidentally posed it next to my Storm Shadow and because I handled it at the same time it turned him red from transfer.
@MikeysActionFigures5624 ай бұрын
Very true, definitely had tons of learning experiences with the dye. I actually made another separate video called “Before you dye your figures” showing info about not just the bleeding but also dye fading. It’s honestly something I haven’t perfected. The best I’ve done is dye what paint rubs and paint over everything else then add a clear sealer but dye has not been perfected
@marottamonster8 ай бұрын
Cool video, quick question, so after you pout the dye on the stove and heated it up, did you turn the stove off before putting the parts in the mix? How long do you find it takes for the dye to "take" [how long did you keep the figure parts in the dye] ?
@MikeysActionFigures5627 ай бұрын
I lowered the temp to the number 3/4 , the dye depends on the type of plastic I’ve had some dye within minutes and some dye in 30 mins to an hour. After you completely dye you want to make sure to let the dye sit in water for 24 hours to prevent it rubbing on anything. I made a more detailed video recently on my channel

@MikeysActionFigures562 also curious if you've ever done skintones with dye?
@dgonthatmic2469 Жыл бұрын
I just tried this out and the action figure I was dying was blue I died in red but it's just black maybe I should put it in longer
@MikeysActionFigures562 Жыл бұрын
It tough to change dark colors to bright colors, I would stay away from blue or black. I would use light gray, light brown, white or skin tone. Those will change super easy
@dgonthatmic2469 Жыл бұрын
Hard to change? does that mean if I leave it in longer like a I don't know what day or something the color might become brighter?
@MikeysActionFigures562 Жыл бұрын
@@dgonthatmic2469 well it’s like trying to turn black pink, but turning white pink is more ideal. It’s possible it could come out brighter but the longer you leave it in the dye it could cause the dye to be messy and will need to soak to remove it. It’s just much more simple to dye light colors then dark
@dgonthatmic2469 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for replying now the real question is how to remove red dye from action figures😂
@ReconFigures Жыл бұрын
Dang, I've never seen a torso crack open so easily! It's almost like you stuck a key in and unlocked it. I've always tried slicing the side open. And I've always just done it with suited bodies where I can hide the edges. And thanks for the tips on dyeing. I definitely need to try it. Do you have any recommended time lengths to keep parts under water, or how much water per bottle? Or do you just see what works best?
@MikeysActionFigures562 Жыл бұрын
A lot of people didn’t believe I did it first try so I’m going to do another video where I open up the figure and do it again with a brand new fig. I would say for time best thing to do is check every 20-30 minutes to see how well the color is sits. It usually depends on what color is being used and the type of plastic

@JulianUhler6 ай бұрын
And if so will the pants Bruce comes with work and the shoes stay brown?
@MikeysActionFigures5626 ай бұрын
If you dye something black most likely it would be very difficulty to change it. Even with that said I would still take a blow dryer, heat up the shoes and take them off. Anything you don’t want dyed I’d remove with heat

DAMN! The whole bottle??? I used 1/4 of the bottle & it was too much. Next time I'm just gonna use a couple teaspoons.
@MikeysActionFigures56210 ай бұрын
It honestly all depends on the plastic, every plastic dyes different. Some plastic takes the dye like nothing and some need it all. It’s honestly trial and error lol
@doro626 Жыл бұрын
Do you save the used dye to use again or do you discard it?
@MikeysActionFigures562 Жыл бұрын
I dump it. Only because the bottles cost $5 at WMT. But I obviously probably use way to much so most can just use some and still save the bottle for another use

@@MikeysActionFigures562 i used to have to fish around and find the parts which drove me nuts. If you get one take a mini torch to the base of the handle and carefully heat the plastic until it softens and run under cold water while holding it in the position you want it to have.
