Use indigo as soon as you mix it. It loses its dying property after two hours there s no need to leave it more. The prob with indigo is that u have to reapply it at least two times a month as it fades away soon and greys reappear:( adding sidr powder helps with fixing indigo. Thank u i love your videos ❤️

thx so much, should you mix sidr powder and Indigo together? and how much?

Brilliant statement. For black women/women of colour in general. Our hair is not actually black, it is black/brown. So aim for that. Henna is fantastic, but respect its uses. Great explanation and process. Thank you. Remember to always finish off with a deep conditioner. It is essential with Henna. You must deep condition after an application. If you do. All will be well.

This is so helpful. I use henna to dye and strengthen, and I also have grays. I've realized by watching your video, I 1. Was not leaving the mixture on long enough(and also allowing it to sit prior to applying). 2. I have not experienced dryness( I use many of the products you added into the mixture) but I've noticed shedding, so I will definitely add avocado & olive oil to my deep conditioner to help lock in the moisture. Great tips!👍🏾

Thank you this was so helpful!!!! So don’t ever think that what you have to say is irrelevant because you gave so many good points because there are a lot of us with so many questions about henna and indigo, but just don’t know what questions to ask. So you have been more help than you’ll ever know and we thank you so very much. Your explanation for each phase of the process was in-depth, so we appreciate you sis, thank you!!!👀😱👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️🙏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Yes the video host has so much more experience now with henna and so do I. I use straight henna for two hours and then straight indigo for the same amount of time. I rinse the former out with water and then the latter out with a 50/50 mix of aloe vera gel and coconut milk. It brings back the moisture balance immediately and there is no dryness plus, I have colored my grays and my hair is darkest brown to black. It’s beautiful

When I first started using henna and indigo I was so disappointed.. my greys were so prominent and I thought what I waste 😞. I persevered and after my 4th attempt I was soo happy it worked and I achieved the black hair that I wanted. I now apply every 4-6 weeks 😊xxx

great video, lots of information, I learn from hennasooq & also from Indian women who've been doing ayurveda for centuries. I prefer a darker henna colour so I mix the henna in an iron vessel. I also add indigo to the henna mix, then do the 2nd full indigo step (I have very stubborn greys, I also have locs). I use warm coconut milk to mix the henna, it gives you almost instant dye release (learned this from a blogger years ago, it was basically a happy accident she discovered from experimenting) I add aloe powder/amla, I also add some infused oil for additional moisture. For my next treatment, I will be using red palm oil and infused JBC to see happens.

Yeah I had problems with that batch of indigo from Hennasooq. My hair came out red orange. 😂 It’s all good now. I usually do the one step for my grays because I’m trying to lighten up my hair. About a 70:30 henna:indigo. I might have to go back in again on my temples. Once I fell asleep with it on my hair and my hair came out amazing. I might do that again next time.

My hair suffered from dryness this past winter I think because I left the indigo over night and after this my hair was the driest it has ever been and I thought I had to cut it off . Like I couldn’t do anything with it . I had already experienced protein overload but this was worst , my hair felt waterproof . So I did some protective styling got a wig and tried to moisturize as much as I could and it eventually came back to normal thank God. I tried it again last month but only on my roots , I’m kind of scared of using it all over my hair again
@VyalaBloom3 жыл бұрын
I totally understand the fear, it's really scary having your hair break off like that! The oils have been a lifesaver for me. Now, I always make sure to mix them with my daily conditioner as I use henna pretty regularly, and I have not experienced that horrific dryness since I started doing that.
@JahleeyahKalonji3 жыл бұрын
add aloe vera to the henna mix, it provides much needed moisture, I do the 2 step method, so I add the aloe vera powder to the indigo as well

After using henna every month for 8 years, and indigo for about 6 years, I decided to start my transition to gray early because of this fact. I always used to do a 2 step process and left it on overnight often. It made my already low porosity hair that much harder to receive water over the years. It has now been 7 months since my last treatment and my hair has never been so soft and my curls so defined as it is now. I also find that I retain more length as well. Instead of henna I use commercial protein treatments and bond repairing products and it works much better than henna for strengthening my hair. So much so that I was even able to completely recover from heat damage once I stopped using henna.
@kelly-ip1zh3 жыл бұрын
@@ChristsChemist that is nice to hear that you're able to transition to gray hair. I think that the fact that we kept it overnight wasn't helping, I tried it again and only kept it for two hours this time and my hair isn't feeling dry . I hope it stays like this
@ChristsChemist3 жыл бұрын
@@kelly-ip1zh I figured if I start now at 35 I can have very long gray hair by 40 and by then it will be even more of a trend than it is now, kind of like natural hair became very trendy in the middle of my transition to natural. Yeah I agree, but without overnight treatments my grays probably wouldn't have been covered as well as they were. I experimented for awhile with different time frames before settling on overnight treatments consistently. I hope it continues to work for you though.

Lovely and good info. Quick question, exactly how long after the part 1 henna treatment would you apply the part 2 indigo based on what you shared in this video? Thank you
@VyalaBloom3 жыл бұрын
As soon as possible. I aim to apply the indigo within 12 hours rinsing out the henna, but some people have had success even up to 48 hours later.

I use black henna but I believe it has a chemical in it to make it black. I will try to use natural henna and Indigo😍
@VyalaBloom Жыл бұрын
Yes black henna often uses the chemical PPD In high amounts which can cause a lot of irritation or severe allergic reactions. Indigo and henna are much safer ♥️

When you let the henna sit that long overnight does it dry out at all? Or does it remain the same texture for hours and hours?
