Hi! As a professional, I wouldn't tape the side of the seat so I could fade the paint difference, but it came out great!I do the paint from scratch. Maybe it is the first time I commented but I've been learning from you years back. Thank you for that!

I think u hit that one out of the park. Looked great considering the age and mileage even after a good cleaning. That rear seat belt in the video looks like it needs hit hard to accentuate the dye job. Excellent Brian.

Yes....the seat belts are gross.

Colorbond also makes a great spray on product when prepped well. I had a hard time getting dye to match from seat doctors on my XTS interior. The product from colorbond matched perfectly well and has held up quite good.

I definitely recommend convers on Infiniti leather, lean once a year and condition twice a year. Shake the leather tends to get hard, and will want to pull/crack. Greeat restoration 😊

Fantastic job Brian. In the video your respray makes them look like new! Curious as to why you didn’t remove the seats from the vehicle so you had better access and didn’t have to tape and worry about overspray?

After reading the comments on why you didn’t remove the seats ( some had air bags) I was curious why you took so much care to cover everything for overspray but not the flooring carpet and mats or did I miss something? BTW wonderful job. Last Assuming your going to respray clear would it make sense to leave in the taping and protection? I’ve watch several videos on this in the past, but truthfully have not restored anything but steering wheels with colourlock system which had clear mixed in, then would coat them with Gyeon leather guard.

Great improvement. Would have liked to see how the filler works on the cracked areas. Some type of seal coat seems necessary to protect the dye from wearing off long term.
@apexdetail859 күн бұрын
I will coat them when completely cured.

Excellent how-to video Brian! Quick question. The clear coating that has to be abraded.... That's gone forever and is considered a sacrifice to get the surface reconditioned, correct?
@apexdetail859 күн бұрын
It is important for the dye to adhere properly and last.....well worth it. I also coat them 48 hr later.

Awesome, Brian. I have a 2019 silverado with the jet black interior i need to do this on. The material is perfect, just dye transfer wear. So, a dye process. I had looked at the Geist repair dye kit. But I didn't see a topcoat. Might have to check into seat dr. Can it be applied with a sponge ? Thank you for the great video
@apexdetail858 күн бұрын
I wait 48 hours...then coat the areas. You can use the dab (sponge) Or even the wipe method.
@justintime44669 күн бұрын

Another question…Do you need special equipment for the air compressor to remove moisture, would it pay to get a small airbrush set up rather than paint gun setups? Any tips on equipment would be helpful. I have a few clients with older seats that will let me try. Some will need a little filler to.

Masterful job. Any special tips for doing leather-wrapped steering wheels? Surprised this didn't need it. They are usually the first thing to develop wear spots.

The seats went from trash to looking great again, in my opinion. Something like this, I would stay in my lane and just have somebody like you do it for me. I keep after my leather upholstery because It would drive me nuts if my seats looked the way those did.
