That's because developer is technically bleach also... It's peroxide which is an oxidant, but it's acidic, so by itself it doesn't wreck your hair like powder bleach does.

Thank you! Nope you have to mix the hicolor with the developer. The developer is what makes your hair color lift. I picked 30 from the other videos I watched. However, I believe it lifts your hair three shades and lifts your hair the most without damaging it like I heard 40 and up does.

If you use the 30 developer it should still lift.

You really don't need to leave it on past the time. After a certain amount of time it stops depositing color anyway so you're just over-processing at that point but it does look pretty
