Oh that blooper I think topped it all! I was worried there for a second!

Haha! I don't think I've ever held my facial expression so long in one place while filming 😊

What a creative!💗💗💗 Doesn't wool felt when steamed?
@MargaretByrdColorQuest Жыл бұрын
What a lovely compliment - thank you 🤎 I did not have a felting issue and I believe that has to do with the protective bundled fiber around the wool yarn. I believe felting is more likely to happen when you shock fiber with extreme temperature shifts. In this technique, the yarn more slowly heats up because it is inside another piece of fiber. That is my theory in any event 😉

All three are so beautiful. Thanks Margaret. How long will they long last?❤

I'm happy to hear you liked the results, Malathie ❤ The mordant is the secret to longevity. Plus, protein fibers like wool are the best fiber source for any natural dye. Just wish I knitted 😉

@@MargaretByrdColorQuest Thanks Margaret. But sad because I am a cotton, linen lover.💖🤗

@@malathiepahathkumbura1298 You can work with madder and cellulose fibers - just do an extra strong double mordant if you can with alum & tannin 😊

Madder is very pretty, I can't remember if I have it or not. I have logwood sitting now to use hopefully tomorrow or Monday but I forgot to... oh shoot I am doing sample peices Not my shirt...! 🤦♀️ (I have to whip stitch my seams so it's not ready yet) I can't make up my mind whether I want purple or green 😊

Both are beautiful colors 😉

Curious that they sent aluminum acetate rather than potassium aluminum sulfate for wool.
@MargaretByrdColorQuest Жыл бұрын
Yes, I was also quite surprised. I typically save aluminum acetate for cellulose 😊

That’s what I’ve always thought, too.

@@SusanS588 I suppose it's possible that is what they had on hand for the kit. It works fine, just spendy!
