Thank you so much for doing this video! I’m an older Italian mama with curly black hair that has been badly thinning for a few years due to health issues. As a white woman, I find it so irritating that’s it is nearly impossible to find a wig that is my color (1B). Even if a company says “espresso” or “chestnut brown”, it comes in and it’s invariably a medium/dark golden brown in warm tones. There is only ONE brand that even gets close- so that’s what I’ve been wearing. I was literally just about to order a few wigs from a website for Black women’s wigs (apparently it’s the only way to get an actual 1B color), when I stumbled onto your channel. You have saved the day! I did see another video on using alcohol with the dye, but I was very concerned about how much the alcohol would dry out the fibers. I spent so much for my wig and I’d cry my eyes out if I ruined it. To be able to see the curl remain in tact after the hot water is so fantastic! You have given this mama hope and happiness that I can still have my curls and go back to my own hair color. Thank you so much! (This will also help my kids be more creative with their costumes next year for Pensacon!)

This made me so happy to read! Thank you for sharing that, and I hope it works out for you. 💜

@@purplemooncosplay2590 the dye took very well, but the curl loosened a lot. I think it must have been because it was a “heat defiant” wig (the fibers are different). So I just put the curl back in with a curling iron - no biggie. I also went right into the roots with straight RIT black dye. There was still a tinge of “warm” tone showing through and I wanted a pure 1B next to my face. It turned out beautifully- now the rest of my “hair” has some lovely, subtle low lighting! It’s perfect! (Just FYI, it’s a Raquel Welch Editor’s Pick.)

@@melaniem4070 I'm so excited that it turned out for you! The difference in fibers and types of hair on every wig we buy makes it a bit more challenging to rinse and repeat on every wig, but it looks like you troubleshooted pretty dang well lol! What's the fun if there's no challenge, right? :)

Thank you so much for this video and shout out to the black cosplay girls, y’all saving me this con crunch season fr 😫 I will def follow you on IG when I can! I’m going to a con and need to dye a natural style hair piece for my cosplay. Have been struggling to find one of these videos that use curly hair and not straight. I was starting to think damn, maybe I need to just wing it and make my own video!! I even tried looking up videos by black cosplayers or curly hair with rit dye and I didn’t get ANY relevant results until I googled it and your video popped up!! This is exactly what I needed! Idk why YT is hiding it but thank you thank you!!

I'm so happy I found the only video on dying synthetic curly hair purple. I wanted to do this with my curly wig but was afraid it would take all the curls out. Thank you so much. You've helped me tremendously. Have a blessed day beautiful.

Thank you so much for taking the time (and money!) to do this experiment. I thought those boiled curls would come out stick straight or just plain messed up. Amazing results! Can’t wait to give it a try…

So informative. Thanks so very much because the ink, paint or Sharpie options seemed exceptionally messy and time consuming

thanks so much for the help!! I'm dyeing a wig soon but I'm only intending to change the shade a little bit on my synthetic wig, so hopefully if I use previously boiled water that cools down a little, it should be fine for the curl pattern. If it does end up stretching out the curls into waves too, that should be fine. and a patch test is going to be super helpful!! I hope it turns out ok.

Great experiment! I have a question can you create a "root" with rit ? ( I don't want to dye the whole wig) I am thinking about heating the water and keeping it on stove then apply to the root area with a brush
@purplemooncosplay25903 жыл бұрын
Eh... that could work. You may have to hold the wig upright with only the roots in the water with the dye. This is an interesting concept - have you tried it yet?

Anyone done pure dye? Like it’ll stain so maybe? If I try it I’ll let y’all know
