I recommend getting the Coop account and here's why. Yes, the money you'd be getting back is not very much at all. However there's no fee, nothing will happen if you miss the criteria in any given month, it's an ethical bank and the 2p cashback on card payments makes this a perfect backup bank account. For example, for transactions costing you less than £2 you could choose to always use your Coop debit card, as that'd work out as being at least 1% cashback every time. It's not much of course but there's really no downsides to having the account!

Barclay rainy days gives 5% up to 5k deposit, Santander 4% up to 4k, HSBC 3% up to 10k, basically I can have almost 20k Emergency founds I can easily access while I put other saving into Fixed rate account... Feels like a win win 🤑🤑🤑

For standing orders can you transfer the same money from bank to bank to bank on same day if there's nothing in the accounts until the original standing order is triggered? I was a bit confused about timings for each bank. For example with first direct regular saver I move £300 a day early via s/o just in case it doesn't arrive before the standing order is triggered from the 1st direct current account.

Hi, I have a question. I already have an account with Lloyds but my doubt is if I switch from the classic account to the club account they can do a hard search on my credit history? I would like to avoid this because within a few months I would like to try to apply for a credit card with them and so this upgrade can destroy my chance to be accepted for the credit card? Thank you.

Tsb to get 30 transactions I could literally send 1 pound 30 times to revaloot right or pay 1 pound 30 times to a credit card only looking now as my Chase cash back is coming to a end

Is there a difference between "pay in" and "deposit"? Also can I get a friend or family member to transfer money to my account to clear the £2000 for club lloyds so I don't have to pay the monthly fee. Or does it have to come from salary?

Hi Andy, thanks very much for this update. I have a question though about the Barclays Blue Rewards account; does it matter where the £800 pounds a month comes from to be deposited into the account? ie. can you use a current account with another bank to transfer the money into it?

Yep that’s fine, just not from a Barclays account

With TSB save and spend is necessarily 1 day 1 transaction, if you do (for example) 5 transactions a day does it still count as 1?

Hi Andy, it might be worth noting that you can deposit via debit card to Chip, and this is how I spend the £500 on my debit card for the Halifax rewards, it's especially good now because Chip have one of the highest EA savings rates also.

There I was thinking I was being a little 'Extra' for creating standing order loops to maximise rewards/interest.... 😅 this normalises by thinking. Thank you!! Also.... do the banks think consumers are dumb or do they just accept this is going to happen. Do they profit off the activity of a simple bank transfer?

Sadly they make money from overdrafts and credit cards, or people forgetting to meet criteria for the rewards and therefore pocket the fees!

I must admit I don't really find these rewards accounts worth the hassle. Lloyds rewards are pretty poor. Halifax - too much spending or too high a value just sitting there. (Spending might be fine for others). Natwest and RBS too many extra direct debits (already use plum & moneybox at Barclays to meet their requirements (again might be ok for others with more DBs). To me Barclays is the only worthwhile one to get access to the Rainy Day saver.

For accounts with fees/direct debit requirements, I keep in each account the amount required to fund the direct debits plus fees. I then replenish by standing order on day those are due. For Halifax rewards I top up Revolut for one and Monese for another. I then transfer that on to meet funding requirements on other accounts before circulating the money back to Halifax. At present I get about £20 a month, sometimes more depending on my balance in Blue rewards linked saver. It all goes to cover my partner's birthday and Christmas presents. Also not sure whether the subscriptions are open to all on Barclays. The three months extra on office 365 is definitely worth having for me.

In my case, it did not work. Spent hours doing all the necessary steps, despite being a high taxpayer and immaculate credit score, Barclays decided that I do not deserve the "everyday account" (which btw only exist on the app) and so now I should wait until next year for another chance. I tried the app, website and bank. Everything was ready, the 2 direct debits and the 800 pounds coming in each month. Seriously.. worst treatment I have ever received

Hi Andy, I have one question of the Barclays blue rewards account. Can I get 5.12% savings if I cannot do 2 direct debits? I can accept they deduct £5 from my acc monthly.
@BeCleverWithYourCash
@BeCleverWithYourCash Жыл бұрын
You can accept the £5 deduction it it’d wipe out the interest you earn. Easier to set up some extra direct debits (I’ve a video on these - search my channel to find it)

Yes I put £800 from other bank account to Barclays and I accept they deduct £5 from my Barclays current account. But I didn’t set up two direct debits. I receive the notification from Barclays by email, they said they will cancel my blue rewards account after two months. “You’re currently a member of Barclays Blue Rewards, but you’re earning less in monthly rewards than your £5 monthly membership fee. We don’t want you to keep paying for Barclays Blue Rewards if you’re not benefitting.” Do you know what that mean? Thanks Andy
@BeCleverWithYourCash
@BeCleverWithYourCash Жыл бұрын
@@ykerry4427 ok, interesting. They’re saying they don’t want you to be losing £5 a month (which I agree with), so they’ll close your blue rewards to stop this happening. Presumably you’ve time to add direct debits
