Ok, a few things here in one posting: 1.) In order for someone to steal the Polaris here they´d have to find the ship first. Which is hard when you don´t have a marker to jump to in OPEN SPACE. 2.) To everyone asking why they don´t just use a Reclaimer: the Reclaimer is a great ship, but it is slow and quite a hassle to operate especially when you are running solo. The Vulture is more nimble and has the same scraping power as both arms on the Reclaimer have combined - the only disadvantage here is the Vulture has only little cargo space and little QT range which is why its awesome it can be carried by the Polaris. Polaris has ample QT range and cargo space, the latter being easier to access than the space on the Reclaimer. So yes, technically the Reclaimer offers in one ship what our host here does with two, but it´s clunky and not much fun. The real pros go Vulture when they can. Imagine what this will look like when the Idris gets released, a ship capable of carrying 2 - 3 Vultures and with even more cargo space. Salvage carriers. Awesome stuff.

Reclaimer needs a buff to the salvage heads. I love the ship for solo but it definitely takes forever compared to the Vulture. Plus the cargo management is a mess

Great content which addresses the issue of the Vultures terrible QT range in Pyro. Has anyone tried to use the Vulture in Pyro. There are places you physically can’t get to no matter which route you take. This is great news for the game imo. This video also shows the versatility of the solo Polaris and how to be able to afford to run it. 👍

This is really cool. How much time you spend on filling your cargo with RMC on the vulture? I feel scraping takes so much time and a vulture filled is about 100k right? But i only tested with the default lasers.

Cool idea to use the Polaris as an extra storage for RMC, but I'd rather keep it simple and offload a full Vulture as quick as possible. Adding another step with the Polaris, adds more time.. which to me, is just tempting fate to lose everything due the countless ways the game tries to bug out on you or kill you, lol.

Yes, but the problem is the small fuel tank for Vulture. So if you operate in Pyro, very limited. o7

Excellent video,I ve noticed that your EM signature is very high,making you susceptible to radar ping,I have equipped my Vulture with all stealth components(stealth works now) and when I salvage I turn off all guns and life support system and 1 cooler,put on my shield and turn off engine which reduce my EM to 3km,I m almost invisible to radar,of course having the Polaris nearby negate all of this but for solo purpose it works.As a solo player I need to utilize all options available.Keep it up!👽

Intersting but I think it's more simple and maybe more efficient to farm panels around MIC-L1, fill up your cargo grid and stuff as many crates as you can around it, then fill up the buffer and go sell everything at the TDD in New Babbage. The QT distance is minimal and each trip gives you around 26 SCU of RMC plus 13 in the buffer that you can print inside your hangar. I'm not sure using a ship as a carrier is faster as a solo player. It does give you a nice place to hide your Vulture if bad guys show up though.

Cargo sucks in the Reclaimer, but a buddy and I plan to use the F8C to do the missions then the Reclaimer to enjoy the spoils.

There is a caveat. The Vulture is squishy. The scrappers won't take a lot of punishment. The Vulture doesn't really fit but you can squeeze into the landing bay with tricky maneuvering. I've found easing the back side in first allows the front of the Vulture to lift without banging against the Polaris. Also, panels are probably better than salvage missions when it comes to how fast you create your wealth. Pro tip.

While I agree with you there... even a ship as big as the Polaris is hard to find in open space when you don´t know where they are and don´t have a jump marker. Plus you need to get under 25 km to even detect the Polaris. So, yes, some sort of remote access for the owner and party members would be nice - but in this case it´s rather safe to say that usually a potential hijacker can´t even find you on a whim.

I was once got not kinda hijacked. but I left the hangar door open. then there is 1 dude landing at my ship with his 315i I guess. and he cant do anything. That because I lock my ship when in pilot seat. he stuck at hangar. the hanga door cant open and real quick. I just kill him at the moment. and the main problem is. there is his ship stuck at my hangar. in that moment I cant do anything. cant blow it. I dont have SRV. nothing. kinda bummer thoo

I didn't store my ship before trying to sell. By the time I got to the Trade COmmission my hangar reset. Forcing me to Claim my Vulture and losing all my work. Losing 85% of my money on contracts and fuel. Just offload it guys..

would love to haul my Vulture in the Polaris, but dang the servers have been consistently bad the past year. Just the past few weeks i have had to server hop for Broken Hangar elevators (cant get to your ships), blocked apartment doors (cant leave once logging in), broken cargo hangars (no hauling), forced logout at major stations (all my ship beds appear to be broke). They crippled the game in 2024 imo. Love this game, but 11 years... i'm just about ready to hang it up.

No, the Vulture is far too large to fit any of the Hercules ships. Just think of this: the 890 and the Polaris can comfortably fit Hornet and Gladius - neither of which fit the Hercules. And the Vulture is larger than those fighters.

To be honest - I'm doing this Polaris/Vulture combo right now and just unloading from the hangar each time, throwing the RMC down the elevators and then organising. (Neat freak). But your way gives me some issues, when off loading from the ramp you can only position to a point that you can get the boxes further into the Polaris which will require you to go back and organise later.. but its still a good combo. I'm doing the salvage in Aarons halo belt so nobody can ever find me.

You can open Vulture rear ramp but Vulture must be landed with front facing Polaris rear, as other way ramp hits a hangar ledge

For sure. But not everyone owns a Reclaimer. Some people have a Vulture and also a Polaris. It's tedious, but a Polaris has It's pro's. If I had to pick I'd definitely pick the Reclaimer though.

The Reclaimer is remarkably unwieldy, especially when you´re out solo. The Vulture is more agile and has the same scraping power as both arms of the Reclaimer have combined. The only thing holding the Vulture back are its limited cargo space and quantum range - and for this the Polaris comes in handy. Salvaging will probably reach another level yet when the Idris gets released, being able to hold 2 - 3 Vultures and even more cargo than the Polaris. Salvage carrier gameplay, baby!

Don’t forget the Vulture only produces 1scu boxes and the Polaris can’t get close to the loading bay. It takes forever to unload. The Reclaimer is a huge pain to unload, but the 16scu boxes mean it’s lest to move around.

I tried the 890 hangar with a Vulture. It fits, but its harder to get the Vulture in and out - plus the hangar doors on the 890 occasionally "decide" to close themselves, regardless of whether or not something is between them. I out for almost 3 hours scavenging with Vulture / 890 when the 890, as I was landing again, closed the doors by itself. The Vulture was crushed, exploded and destroyed the 890 as well. Only a handful of materials survived, most of my work went up in flames. Long story short, the Polaris is a better fit and more comfortable to use with the Vulture. Looking forward to take this one step further when the Idris finally gets released.

Problem with vulture atm after q drive update....it has a shit q fuel tank. Prospector can travel 150gm on its tank with the most efficient drive. Vulture 63gm you can't jump around effectively atm at all. Can't even make the jump from Microtech to Arcorp...let alone pyro distances. This setup with be ok for doing in pyro.

That was earlier the case too. Vulture, as far as I remember, was never able to traverse Stanton without doing multiple refueling stops. Combined with the limited cargo hold it was difficult to do scavenging outside the usual spots.

I think it’s to do with the vulture being able to natively fit in the hanger of the Polaris and the little cargo elevators are super convenient, so the idea is that paired you can stay out for ages in less then friendly space without having to go to known POIs

It also shows that there is more than the traditional role and a solo gameplay loop for the Polaris. Like the other ships in SC, there is more uses for it than just what's written on the website. I love mine and having a decent "mothership" like this is fantastic when your buds aren't online.

@@drakkon_soldefinitely the guys and I usually run one with a bunch of vultures working off of it and a star farer when we do group work, it’s been really good in the pyro playtest, gather on the Stanton side, jump through to pyro, go to the work site and stay out there for the better part of a day grinding away before moving back to the Stanton side as a group

This is a great video that shows the Polaris being functional for solo players and as far as I know, it’s the only in game ship that can fit a Vulture? So it shows versatile use of the light capital Polaris and a way to be able to afford to run it while living out your space dreams in SC. Also shows you DON’T need 12 to run a Polaris. I thought that was obvious from the content for me.
