Cross court shots only if your skill in placement is consistent. For a beginner to intermediate, I will encourage them to hit down middle all day.

Excellent tips. I would add, always palm resets down to their backhand side either drive or drop. You make them look good hitting back to their forehand.

The objective of the banger is not to hit the ball harder at the opponent. The objective of a banger is to hit the ball harder where the opponents is not so the opponent has less time to react too where the ball is going so the opponent has less of a chance to return it. A banger is trying to Strike the ball with their paddle with the right trajectory path/angle so that the ball just goes over the top portion of the net and lands in because when they hit the ball hard; they hit it with top spin.
