Thank you Connor. I have been hitting flat returns which have a low margin of error crossing the net. Learning the top spin will almost guarantee a return of serve every time. Constantly learning new techniques of pickleball. This is huge benefit in increasing my game. Excellent explanation and terrific video.

Awesome! You are on the right track.

Practicing with two-tone balls (from Gamma) is also a good way to see if you are getting topspin (or any spin for that matter).
@JamesYeang27 күн бұрын
Great idea. Can also paint the ball maybe. Two tones is nice

Awesome vid. I alternate between hitting really good topspin drives that dip over the net to driving them right into the net. Hopefully focusing on these techniques helps me sort this out. Thanks!

Excellent teaching the topspin especially the serve versus the resets vs the dinking. And the roll - thank you

Great instructions on topspin.

May be worth mentioning that it's easier to generate topspin on a shot that's descending vs. a shot that's on the rise.
@EnhancePickleballАй бұрын
That’s a great point. Good catch

Good info to learn the topspin. A caveat. You stated you are using your wrist for the windshield wiper forehand topspin shot but you are not. Your wrist is locked throughout and you are using supination of the forearm for the forehand topspin shot. You could be breaking the wrist, aka using it, at the end of the backhand topspin shot while using pronation of the forearm to achieve the topspin. MTC

Using a multi-coloured pickleball can help to visualise the spin generated as the ball rotates in the air.
@EnhancePickleballАй бұрын
we'll do that next time :)

Great explanations. I would like to have seen the ball path on the topspin drops from the side or from hitter's view, in addition to receiver's view.
@EnhancePickleballАй бұрын
I will add that to my list of things to cover in a follow-up.

Great video! You didn't demonstrate a higher arcing topspin serve that bounces high, that I have found to be more effective than a lower topspin drive serve.
@EnhancePickleballАй бұрын
Good point, we talk about those in some of our serving videos
@LeslieCroxtonАй бұрын
Especially on your demonstration of a drop shot , your paddle face looks slightly open at contact, definitely not a closed face. Is this what we should strive for? Are you using the continental grip for this shot?

Does your paddles have a small gtip? Most paddles I've tried are all to big for my hand

So gravity has a bigger effect on the ball when it is spinning a certain way? Hmmm.
@EnhancePickleballАй бұрын
While spinning doesn't change gravity, it can create an apparent change in motion due to the Magnus effect, where air resistance interacts with the spinning ball, causing it to curve or change direction in flight.
