I tried and tried to rebuild the Onan fuel pump using the cheap Chinese rebuild kit. I finally gave up and bypassed the fuel pump just as Taryl demonstrates in this video using the B & S vacuum pump. I had to make a gasket using a thick piece of gasket material because the old gasket was very thin and it leaked gas. I also replaced the gas line from the tank and added new plugs and a condenser. It is unbelievable how well the fuel pump bypass worked...the Sears SS16 Onan starts and runs just great.. Taryl Saved my day!

I’ve also used them on Kohler K series and Command engines to save money over buying the mechanical pumps. They are also great when the fuel tank is lower than the carb and gravity won’t work. Thanks for sharing!
