Wow, Taryl! How exciting! Last time I stopped by for a visit you told me about your plans stop taking in retail work and only produce videos. And now you are moving forward with those plans. I'm so happy for you and the gang. You've come a long way and now a new chapter in your business is starting to unfold. I look forward to see it all come to fruition. Best of luck to you.

You can't stop Taryl its in your blood. I am 48 years old and I retired from working on customers cars. It wasn't fun anymore. I still fix my vehicles for my mental escape. Go with your heart, family. You inspired me through the covid crap. My God bless you and your family. Your 1 in a million. Wish you were in cincinnati. Lol 😂 😆 rock on Taryl 🤘

I think you just answered my question @ 4:28. I have a old Craftsman Rear ride mower that I bought for cheap and am trying to bring back to life (Model 502.270110). Anyways I got it running and unfroze the Transmission so far which were my 2 biggest hurdles. The issue I'm having now is when I push the clutch/brake Pedal Down (on my mower its the same pedal), Turn the Key and start the mower it runs. Then when I attempt to let off the clutch/brake pedal I hear a griding sound when the pedal is almost all the way out. I thought it was the Transmisson at first, but when I had someone else sit on the mower with me looking under sparks appeared to actually be coming from the PTO area. I will have to take off the clutch next to see if it's the same style you mentioned in 4:28. Hope so, so I can try to fix it and move on to the next thig.

Not only are parts getting hard to find, but when you do finally find them the high price of replacement parts makes it not even worth doing. New stuff isn't even painted right, decks fall apart and rot out where the old ones somehow lasted 20+ years. I still run and cut with two riders from '95 and '96, a Ford (Toro) and an old Wizard (MTD) that still work just fine.

This seems to be a trend in many fields where parts are not available or cost way to much… everyone wants an easy job while the few who get their hands dirty are trying to fix all the garbage they are making from cars to mowers and appliances to anything else that you may fix… well are turning into a disposable battery powered society to save the planet somehow by filling it with more waste than ever before because everything only last a few years…. And you can replace the whole item cheaper than buying the batteries. I think the reason why you can’t get parts is that they don’t want you to fix anything gas powered but toss it and buy the battery powered items…. Some battery stuff is no that bad but so much of the battery stuff ends up for sale a year later when the battery just won’t last long enough and is to much to replace…… and now we are forced to get cheap low quality parts that are only a temporary fix…. I worked in an automotive garage for years and then everything was becoming a pain to fix… and people can’t afford it either… stuff that was once simple is now a pain to do or requires specialized tools and equipment… they are putting the little guy out of business and the dealer is just charging more and more

Parts shortage - Attention: This is not localized to small engine repair. Car parts to a slightly lesser extent, aviation parts, computer parts, basically anything with a chip or chips are required to manufacture the part. Another big reason, I called out another famous small engine KZbinr over 2 years ago that Cali is coming out with legislation banning gas engine powered small engines. His quote, “it will never happen”, eh hem……now he’s eating humble pie. They’re purposely obsolescing gas/fossil fuel powered parts cuz big industry pays off these manufacturers of ie: lawn and garden equipment to conform to their agenda, on top of the “-vids” demick that’s in our rear view mirror.

As a 6 year old, my dad showed me how to put carbon brushes in our interstate green pig vacuum, a couple years later we put a heating element in the toaster. We were regulars at the Brand Source(?) Parts store. Everything got fixed. The Norge(?) washing machine transmission scared me to death. Retired Ford, Lincoln, Mercury technician. The stuff I could tell you would blow your mind.

This is just one of the many things I like about this channel, not only does he teach how to fix a mower but not always by the book. A different how to lawnmower channel I watch "& like" she is strictly by the book.
