Hi mate, Are you sure you got it right in the description about the oil that goes into the manual transfer case?? Penrite ATF BMV you have,but when I looked it up on the their website it says it's for automatic transfer cases?
@The_series_series2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben, thank you for your information. Can you tell me from where you got that? In Germany everywhere they say you are only allowed to use special VW oil in all the 3 places?

Would also like to confirm this is the correct pil for manual amarok transfer case, need oil tomorrow morning first thing!!

If you do a transmission service on the ZF8HP transmission (the automatic one) it's generally a good practice to go for the original ZF filter. After markets filters have the tendency to have less layers of filtering material build into it which leads to an inferior filtering quality. There is a high tendency that the fitment is also not 100% correct which can cause leaks as well as improper suction from the pumps POV.

Thanks for the video, super easy to follow. Any chance you have a video on the breather or have done any line upgrades for it?

Nice production. Hard to find good quality vids for Amarok DIY. So definitely keep at it

Thanks Kurt, yeah that's why I made this, went to look and found nothing. Will do!

Also thought that I’d share if you have the same model CDCA 2012 120kw Amarok as I, there actually isn’t a drain plug for the rear diff. So the two options to remove the oil are to either; suck it out via the fill hole, or undo the nine 13mm bolts and lever from the side. I ended up doing this method so I could give the inside a proper clean.

@@cmart0189 That's a bit annoying, thanks for letting us know! I definitely would do what you did, would be hard to syphon all the old oil out properly.

Obrigado. A minha quando engata o 4x4, nao desengata. Preciso desligar e ligar para voltar ao modo 4x2. Acho que pode ser sujeira no óleo que trocou. Vou fazer o mesmo. Abraços from Brazil.

If the rear diff is locking one, than the 75w90 won't work out, right? You need 75w140, right?

can i use 75w90 with limitd slip friction modifier on front and rear diff? i couldnt find without additive

Hi mate, nice video! Why would water deep crossings without a breather cause the leak? I've recently done a few crossings (also without a breather) and am wondering whether I should change my diff oil, or just leave it. Any advice?

Here’s a bit of info: A differential / axle breather serves the important purpose on a 4WD vehicle of venting the air pressure in your drivetrain assemblies such as differentials, gearbox and transfer case. When these assemblies heat up under normal operation the air inside expands increasing the pressure and needs to be vented to atmosphere. When the drivetrain assembly cools down the air inside contracts and creates a vacuum.Many drivetrain assemblies are fitted with a breather from the factory. The factory breather is usually a one-way valve mounted directly to the axle housing or remotely on a short tube. The shortfall with the factory breathers arises particularly when driving through water crossings where the drivetrain assembly will cool rapidly creating a vacuum. This vacuum will close the one-way valve tightly shut causing air to be instantly drawn into the assembly through the axle/shaft seals. However because the seals are probably still submersed below water the water will be drawn into the drivetrain contaminating the oil and possibly damaging drivetrain components or your Air Locker.

Great video man! I have the 2.0 bi turbo selectable 4wd version. I been towing a lot in the last few months, Probably more than VW warrants to tow 😅, Anyway do you think doing the rear diff oil is more important than the front diff?I thought it would be since mines rear wheel drive when it's in 2wd, I ask because doing the front diff looks to be a much bigger job for access and refilling etc.
@bensanfordmedia2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Iasone! I wouldn’t suggest just doing the rear, always a good habit to do both. Definitely a bit more effort to do the front though. I’d change transfer oil while you’re at it too.
