Hello i just bought this same kit for my 328i, there is a gasket that came with it, is this gasket optional or is it vital for sealing the cap to the master cylinder? Thanks... Okay update just completed a flush on my 328i this kit work great with the exception that it was leaking at the connection, but some plumbers tape took care of that. Other than that thanks for posting the video it was the 1st video i watched on how to perform this brake flush procedure.

Thanks for the video! I have an e90 and actually ordered the kit months ago but I’ve been so busy with work I haven’t got to it but am gonna do it next week. Just a few questions: 1. How many liters of brake fluid do you think Ill need to complete all 4 calipers, and 2. This is probably a stupid question, but since I don’t have quickjacks, I’ll have to do each caliper individually. Will it matter if I jack up just one corner at a time and do it like that? Will it matter that that corner will be higher and the car not even? I wouldn’t think so but just making sure. Thanks!

I honestly don't remember how much brake fluid I used to do all 4. I just know I didn't use all what was given to me by BMW when I bought their brake fluid at the dealership. And I don't think it will matter if one corner of the car is higher. Though I'm not an expert.

Please use the proper sized wrench for the bleeder. Also, Dot 4 brake fluid is VERY corrosive. Put a plastic bag over the fender. If you get fluid on your paint wash it immediately!
@stashoneill
@stashoneill 2 жыл бұрын
Using an adjustable wrench is fine if there isn’t much resistance from the bleeder screw. Also, using a plastic bag is a horrible idea. Plastic bags can scratch the paint and if left touching the paint long enough, it will stick to the clear coat, absolutely ruining it.
@mattf301

@@stashoneill ok. I worked at an Aprilla dealer for years and in the service manual it states to use plastic sheeting to cover any painted surface. If you don’t own an 8 or 10 mm wrench you shouldn’t be working on your car
@stashoneill
@stashoneill 2 жыл бұрын
@@mattf301 Do you mean “Aprilia”? I’ve never heard of Aprilla. Anyway, When working with brake fluid, one must understand how corrosive it is to plastic. Using a thin plastic material such as a plastic bag, will not protect your car’s paint from brake fluid. It will eat right through it and get all over your paint. Also, plastic bags are not soft. They will scratch the clear coat. Most plastic bags will have a store logo or other design printed on them using an ink that is corrosive to clear coats and paint. It can also transfer the ink leaving an imprint of the design on your paint. I have been working as a mechanic for 36 years, 22 of them as a master mechanic and to this day, I have never read a service manual(and I’ve read a lot of them) that reccomends using plastic sheeting over a fender guard. And as for the wrench. Don’t be that garage snob that everyone hates. Sure, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do things but, to nit pick over a DIYer’s choice of wrench is just lame.
