I totally agree. I've been seeing bass in about 20-25 feet of water and barely a cast length from the bank. Drop shot is a great way to get bites when the bass are slow and cold.

That drop shot is a great rig! Awesome for cold water fishing!

I used a 4 inch green pumpkin dinger on a wacky rig and that was the only way I could get any bites. Ice forming pretty good around the bank.

Hard to go wrong with a wacky rig and a Yum dinger!

I'll even use crappie baits between 1-1/2 to 2-1/2" sizes and that will get some bites, yes a lot of dinks, but better than nothing. Last winter I did manage to catch five bass between 16 - 18-1/2 inches on those small crappie baits so they will catch the big ones as well.

Nothing wrong with that at all! You're still catching fish!

I had some ice under my dock the other day but it didn't seem to bother the fish none. Caught 2 crappie and a small bass.

Fish will still bite even when it's really cold!

The temps going up and down is really hurting the bite. I'm still going and have caught some fish!
