I've been working on the improvement batches for about a year now, here's my experience so far: Batch 1 - 05/04/23 ~ 07/23/23 I went into these pretty much right as I started playing mania, and I had next to zero VSRG experience. I started off unable to pass most songs in the first batch, so I worked on the lower diffs of everything first (makes me wonder if a "batch 0" is warranted?). Get Your Wish and Nanamori are the ones that gave me the most trouble. Nanamori was just too fast for me at the time, and streaming proved to be a pretty huge issue for me. Batch 2 - 07/23/23 ~ 11/07/23 Trickstarz is by far my most played map at ~90 plays, which I think is saying something. I S-ranked most of the other maps in this batch with only like 3-5 tries (Sayonara Planet Wars and Rubik's Cube took a bit longer). Developed super mindblock after being stuck on one map for like 2 months, eventually got through it. Batch 3 - 11/07/23 ~ 11/15/23 First try S-ranked pretty much everything. Obviously I was playing other stuff while doing these batches and my non-streaming skills improved enough for me to be able to blast through (I was also just having a really good session too). The endurance training map is the only thing that took me a little bit, I had started to feel a bit dizzy or something near the end of that one. Batch 4 - 11/15/23 - Now I feel pretty happy with how much my streaming has improved by this point. But oh god. I suck at jumpstream. Around that time I kinda started looking for other jumpstream maps to improve with before trying to tackle some of these. At this point I only have Heaven's Fall left, but I still don't feel like I'm close on that one. Thanks for putting those batches together, it's been nice having some clear goals to work towards instead of just grabbing and playing random maps.

Since the day I started I'm always looking pretty much where the combo number is, when I need to focus I look a bit below (slightly below where the 300 appears when you explain). Also those batches are SUPER helpful, I struggle quite a bit on the first one but managed to snag the A rank a bit earlier. Soon It's all gonna be S and will proceed to higher difficulties on the maps I have (which I already did on some) and will take batch 2! I can play from 4k to 6k (struggle a bit on 6k) but 7k I just can't, maybe I need to learn but I just can't find a comfortable key setup

been playing the improvement batches fairly actively since 7th of july starting at batch 1 and today just finished batch 4, i want to share some of my experience with the batches so far (mostly batch 4) and probably update this as i progress more :D Batch 1: i had some basic 4k experience prior to this so i blasted through batch 1 in one go without much trouble, the 5 minute long songs were quite new to me and i wasn't really used to it being that long lol like equinox and exit this earth's atmosphere but overall its very doable. Batch 2: batch 2 also took about 2 days, only energy flower and sayonara planet wars gave me some trouble. i would say that it's a fair increase in difficulty compared to batch 1 nothing too much. Batch 3: batch 3 took just under a week and i was starting to feel really challenged at this point, especially the stamina maps which made me realise how much my left hand was lacking (sometimes id be just halfway through a song and my left hand starts hurting meanwhile my right hand doesnt even feel tired at all). i would start to struggle immensely stamina wise towards the end of both sacrament of wilderness and g1ll35 but with a couple days of grind i was able to s rank them. Batch 4: the difficulty increase was so big for me that it felt more like going from batch 3 to batch 5 or 6 than to just batch 4, thats how overwhelming it felt at first. batch 4 took around a month of active play to get through and it was really quite the grind. a lot of maps at first glance felt impossible as i cannot keep up with the density both in terms of physical strength and reading ability, it was like i thought id made some progress making it to batch 3 and then batch 4 made me feel like i didnt at all, especially the very last few i had left (see below) they were so hard to get through that i started working on batch 5 coz i think i might burn out from playing the same couple songs every day. in order of ascending difficulty the most memorable ones include: - akasha and haelequins: both have burst of note spam that were too much for me to recognise pre much, i just tried to not completely fumble those sections and have high acc the rest of the song to scrape through with s rank. - moon-gate and crystal world: i remember first trying these two and absolutely getting destroyed coz i couldnt read ANYTHING the sheer consistent density throughout the entire song is unlike anything ive seen in batch 3. - 666 flags: my first exposure to handstream, took quite some time to get used to. - secret activity; akatsuki; and houkago stride: all long songs that require good stamina (my weak lefthand syndrome does not help here), basically felt like longer and more chord heavy versions of moon-gate/crystal world. - SNOW HALATION: my name says it i love this song and i was pleasantly surprised to find it in the improvement batch lmao, definitely the map i played the most i got s rank on it earlier than some maps i consider harder because of that. overall just exceedingly demanding jumpstream map a lot of parts where im just trying to hold onto the 95% for my life, the key was to stay calm and not fumble the jump trill which can be acc killer if u do. its fairly long asw so consistency n stamina r required. - heaven's fall and khionos: the commonality between these two is that towards the end (once in khionos and twice in heaven's) they both have this burst of incoherent notes that felt even worse than akasha/haelequins in terms of readability, i had to play both of them at slower speeds for a while and slowly upping it to get them. these two were some of the very last maps i had left in batch 4 that felt like they were batch 4.5+. -disconnected trance 0.8x: this map is simply CRAZY, its entirely single stream and has a lot of rolls (which i thought i was quite good at) and its star rating is fairly low asw at 3.5ish but for me it was the most difficult map in batch 4. the density is just so overwhelming and u have to maintain the ludicrous spam of notes for just under 2 minutes with NO REST SECTION, it feels like my fingers r about to fall off towards the latter half pre much especially my left hand its just immensely hard to keep up. the only easy part is the intro and outro which r just acc boosting sections ig even with them s rank was so hard to achieve and took a lot of playing at lower speeds to get there. having s ranked a couple songs in batch 5, i can easily see this being in batch 5 instead. Batch 5: i've played quite a couple songs here and got s rank on too much loli just today, it felt like a harder version of snow halation from batch 4 which makes sense since theyre both jumpstream maps and both mapped by niko. there seems to be A LOT of chord jacks in this batch asw and itll take me a while to get good at them... overall it was so nice to have a more clear goal to work towards than blindly playing random maps and i improved soooo much in the past month and a half. went from a 1-2 sr player to being able to handle most 4 sr maps now, i hope i can continue to get better through the batches! and ofc, if u see this crisper i just want to say that ur guides and improvement batches r such hidden gems for mania and theyve helped me immensely in both improving at the game and having more fun since its satisfying to get better, so thank u so so much for making them (also love live is awesome fr) :)

About the batches... I've been playing them pretty often, and I've grinded my way from the 4th batch to the 9th. My biggest problem is that there are sometimes a lack of songs, like in the 7th batch. There is only one map based on jacks, and when I was clearing it, my experience was absolute DOGSHIT. I didn't feel prepared at all, and I had to grind it out like crazy (it's still my most played map fyi). A few songs are also way harder than others in the same batch, like in the 9th, A Reyvateil's curse was also absolute ass, being as difficult as White Day, a 10th batch song, WHICH I CLEARED AFTER S RANKING THE 10TH DAN SPEED (I cleared both with a 96,5% one after the other, yet they're both in different batches). My experience with the LNs was the worst, since I felt like I was underprepared all of the time, like in the case with Gympie Gympe. The batches made me hate LN, though that problem is mostly gone, now that I've caught it up with the rest of my skills (cleared the 8th "dan" in both the LN phases, and underjoy's LN dans). Now, I hate inverse LNs, those stupid ass LN streams, and the use of LNs as if they are normal notes (just use normal notes you prick). Desperado Waltz 1.1x and Signal Hopping 1.1x belong in the 10th batch, and half the easier LN songs belong in the 8th. Edit: I forgot to mention that I have around the same accuracy in those two songs and Reverenced Flower, the only 10th batch LN song (DW 93%, RF 93,5%, SH 94%) Now, I still haven't cleared Blue army 1.3x (that map is also dogwater, but it's more due to the fact that both my hands are different, and I can't consistently do jumps with my right hand, despite being right-handed.) and both the LN songs mentioned before, but Eternal Drain does not feel possible lol. Other than that, these batches are great, though I frequently play songs in the batch ahead because of how unbalanced my skillsets are (I'm better at stamina based maps, and I suck at jacks).
