THANK YOU for painting the fireplace different colors and not just a whitewash or one solid color. I was starting to think that it couldn't be done. It turned out beautiful!!!

I am shocked that you can paint brick and it can turn out so beautiful! You are awesome, Shayna - you’re a wonderful sister! Your brother owes you a lot of babysitting hours for this. ~Linda

You have truly inspired me to recreate this piece of art. I was just searching ways to white wash my brick fireplace and when I came across your video, I was amazed!!! Perfect color scheme for my room. Thank you again and I am now a IG follower.

Hi Shayna, I just loved loved loved the paint job you did on your brothers house. How do you think this would work out with a stone fireplace that has varying shapes and sizes to the stones where there is not really linear lines.
@ShaynaRobinson Жыл бұрын
Ooo I know which type you’re talking about!! I’m not sure I’d have to look at one & evaluate & maybe try it for myself! Did you look on Pinterest or Google to see if anyone has done it!?
@ShaynaRobinson Жыл бұрын
If all else fails you could try it & if you hate it you could paint it one color!

This is just beautiful. I have a wall to wall fireplace that is brick. I’ve been trying to convince my hubby to agree to paint it.

@Shayna Robinson Repurposing Mine is wall to wall, as well. Husband loves the raw brick we currently have (that matches the outside of the house...ewwwe!) Ready for the fresh new look! I bugged him long enough, that he finally said GO FOR IT! I'm nervous but the wonderful thing about paint is that you can always paint over it, worst case scenario!

Mine too! Brick on the outside. Bllahhh is right. My hubby decided to paint the brick on our home as he is currently siding it. 😊

I love the finished fireplace! I have one very similar and want to do the same thing to it... Where do you get her chalk paint? And how much should we plan to get for a fireplace that size?
@ShaynaRobinson2 жыл бұрын
I buy the paint at a local to me store but you could order it from any retailers online that sell Dixie belle or any chalk paint would work! And I’m not 100% sure how much I used for this since I did multiple colors. But I would say approx one 32oz container or so!

Holy cow girl!! What a makeover!! I just also have to say I was very impressed by you painting with your baby on you! 💪 Great job!! Also, I have never heard of Dixie Belle - I always tend to use Waverly chalk paint - is it really good chalk paint?!
@ShaynaRobinson3 жыл бұрын
Awww thanks so much…. I like it a little better than waverly for things like furniture but like for crafting & stuff waverly is great too!

Love the fireplace. I wish I was brave enough to have my house which is dark red brick. I would like it painted. I live on a lot that has 4 oak mature trees. We used to have 6. What I'm saying if we didn't have the limbs cut back every so often the grass would die because the sun can't through.

Thank you for this video! Im curious tho, is this safe to have a functional fireplace, and have this paint on there? I always worry about this, when considering redoing ours. We don't really use ours, but I would like it functional in the event that we have to use it. Or, for resale value too. Also, is this regular interior paint? Exterior? Special fireplace/heat type paint? Thank you again!
@ShaynaRobinson3 жыл бұрын
Aww good questions. I am not 100% sure if it is totally safe for actual functioning fireplaces. I would assume so mainly bc the painted areas don’t actually get hot. The main area I know you have to worry about would be the metal & the hearth where ashes could land and what not. And for the metal I know they sell a certain type of high heat paint you could def use that. As far as what is used on the fireplace in the video, it is chalk paint!

Wow Shayna! This is gorgeous! I have been wanting to do mine for a few years now and you have inspired me even more! Do you think Rustoleum chalk paint would work as well? Or do you recommend Dixie Belle?
@ShaynaRobinson3 жыл бұрын
Aww yeah rustoleum would work perfectly fine! I’m sure any water based paint would work!

The colors of the stone in the before picture is actually pretty compared to many of the stones that I've seen in other people's homes. I am kind of torn on whether I like the before or after more.

The orange & yellow tons are pretty old school. And most people are going for a more white & bright look these days. So it’s definitely personal preference. You do you!

Why was the baby exposed to those fumes like that? That was really bad:(
@ShaynaRobinson2 жыл бұрын
Chalk paint is non toxic. Do your research!

Nice job, but probably not a good idea having the baby breathing in all those paint fumes.

Love this! I know first hand how hard it is to paint brick! I wish I would have known about the 50/50 water paint trick! I found it so hard to get the paint into all those little divots and dimples of the brick and mortar. You did a great job- and with a baby!! Killing it!! By the way- I’m @makeitwithmich on Instagram! ☺️
