I did the same thing 2 years ago. Very skeptical about the whole thing since you cannot go back. When I wiped it off I did it with a wet rag. That took off a lot more paint. I figured that if it was too light I could go over again. Turned out awesome! You can see different tones of color bleeding through the whitewash. When I was done I painted on a coat of water based poly. I get many compliments ! Yours really looks great! I’d recommend anyone with a dark fireplace to not hesitate and do it.

Moving to a house with a brick fireplace. I want to do this, can I ask why you mixed paint with water? I know nothing about paint 😂, I would have used it right out of the can.
@Mudkip_Mafia2 жыл бұрын
It's because brick needs to breath or the paint will flake off. The water also helps it seep into the poors and it looks more true to the brick

It would be dependent on what type of tile if it will accept the paint.

I guess that it is a matter of personal taste, but I would rather leave the brick natural. But, hey, it would be a dull old world if we all liked exactly the same things. 🤷♂️ Nice video, though. Clear, concise and informative. Up to your usual high standard. 👏

This is the 6th video I have viewed and the only one that gives the look I want. The rest of them are sealing with 2 layers of primer, then 2 coats of paint, in the end their fireplaces look like someone applied plastic sheeting and heated it. No definition left, no texture, just a flat awful look.
