Never had a Saab but I watch this channel for years now😀👏🏻 My E46 also has a lot of black trim and it works with Maguires ultimate black. But I also do not have a lot of sun where I live

I painted the door/bumper/grill trim off the saab. Since i removed it and the lights/grill before taking it to maaco to get painted white. It was worth it! Paint job came out clean! The trim painted made it pop! Plus i got the ice block tail lights that has the black outlining. Just never got around to painting the door handles, side mirrors trim, wipers and the area around it. its on my list lol

No idea about plastic trim, but mirrors and door handles last way longer if you apply matt clear coat over the paint
@AutoAutopsy6 ай бұрын
good tip!
@pavlospanteliadis68686 ай бұрын
use a heat gun as it really brings the best results and makes them like new. I think it pushes all the plastic oil out and makes it nice! You just need to be very careful though as if it gets too hot it will melt!
@AutoAutopsy6 ай бұрын
I’ve always been a bit wary of heat due to it making the plastic more brittle/fragile over time

Great job I did the same on my old car I painted my trim in the same red body color of my car, but next time please scuff up the plastic a bit with 600k or 800k sandpaper. Then your paint will adhere a lot better be careful when you wash the plastic trim later on, the pressure of the water might blast the paint off since you didnt sand the parts remove the door handles next time and paint them with the same body color. It is amazing to see the amount of work you been putting down on this 9-3 hats off to you sirrrr keep up the awesome work, the best solution for these sun faded trims are real 2k matte black paint then you get the chemical resistance too like gasoline if you accidently spill it on the painted area. I spent a crazy amount of time refurbishing my 18" $150 wheels i bought like 4 years ago, they had insane curb rash they looked like shit when you looked at them closely I had to take a hand file and file the scarred edges down. I know you should tig weld the edge up and use a lathe to cut it down but I 3d printed a guide so I could use steel epoxy and shape them the right way a month of work putting filler on sanding and repeat that 1000 times lol, then I made a jig that I put in the center bore and sanded the edge at 45 degrees painted them silver and then masked the areas of where it should remain silver then paint the rest black, and I used the same Spray Max 2K clear on them 3 cans and like 3 thick coats on them. And to top it off I 3d printed my own holders for the SAAB badge in the center they turned out pretty good, I think i shall send you a message on IG and show you the result as I cant upload photos here. Keep up the great work together we can save our SAABs \m/

Sure! My concern with sanding is that it would ruin the “textured” finish that they come with from factory, which I personally like

Looks great man. Agree the other solutions are temporary. No need to put a clear over the paint? How does it feel on your hands, especially the door handles. My plastic mirrors on my '06 9-3 also look a mess and I'm trying to figure out the best solution for them.
@AutoAutopsy6 ай бұрын
Thanks! It still sort of has that “rough” feeling that the factory one does, which I personally like. I decided against clear. I think it’ll be fairly durable without it, but we’ll see!

Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. I’d love to and have been considering it for a while, as you can see the floor is definitely a bit of a mess from previous owners. Why not just remove the side moldings and bumper moldings? All come off easily with trim removal tool. Then clean and spray. And reinstall.

Some of them don't actually, the front and back are easy, however if the clips on the sides break you're fucked
