besides the pickup coil, it's a good idea to pull the shaft to clean and regrease the upper bushing. With delco remy #1960954. The original stuff is long since dried up.

I used blue streak stuff w brass conductors accell coil and wires plugs and always had great luck never a hiccup at 5 grand even your right spend the money on good igniton parts most times people think they have carb issues its not its ignition

All your missing is a voltage meter to check the resistance on the coil

Im trying to convert a 1970 cadillac with the 472 to an hei and i completely rebuilt the distributor from top to bottom and it still isnt prodcing any spark. Any ideas on what im doing wrong? Even hot wired it to the battery and nothing was waiting to get spark so i could wire the 12 volt wire to to the bulkheads at the fire wall

What did you use for the Electronic conversion??

I used the flame thrower tune up kit bought everything brand new the only thing I haven't changed is the vacuum advance and the pig tail connectors however petronix the peeps that make flame thrower they make a pig tail connectors to use with these parts should it be that simple? I mean I tested the lower half of the distributor and the ignition module, condenser, pick up coil all work just not sure why we aren't getting any spark at all.

So, uncle buck, you failed to elucidate disassembly/re-assembly nor did you elucidate what lube to use. Thus, I fail to see how you can call that a rebuild. Come back when you can elucidate a real COMPLETE rebuild. I might tune you in...

Yeah I'm kinda with you on that. I was trying to find one on the bottom bushing setup for a custom distributor I'm building for a Mercedes V8.

Biscuit= resistor brush/ rotor or distributor bushing. The brush/biscuit goes under the insulator/rubber/gasket though.
