Worked a treat for me to removing a 100mm square post which had snapped of at ground level surrounded on al sides by paving slabs. Whilst the top of the post was soft, using 5 inch screws worked a treat. Genius, thanks Rob.

Nice video! I have the luxury of a tractor bucket and chain in place of the lever.... Instead of the ring and bracket I use a vane drill bit, drill a hole down into the post. Then I use a gate hinge (screw with right angle post for holding a gate) I screw the hinge into the drilled hole of the bost, wrap the chain around the gate hinge & bucket and raise the bucket. Works! Thanks for the lever and bracket ideas! Nice video!

Liked the video but, unfortunately, I've never come across a rotten fence post that this method would work on as they are too rotten for the screws to bite (and hold) while using the lever. Fence posts are simply too soft for the screws to hold onto the rotten wood.

This technique worked perfectly for me just this weekend, but in my case, the fence post had been bending back and forth about 15" from the bottom and eventually broke at that point. The 15" segment remaining in the ground was still pretty solid. So thus far, this technique has worked on 100% of fence post stumps I've had to remove (1 out of 1).

@@ARFilms2 You have to be aware of those high winds and take them into consideration when you build a fence these days. They can be mighty destructive as they have no problem snapping a fence post in half at its footer. The only thing I've ever seen more menacing to fence posts than high winds are low winds.

I'm just flabbergasted that those four screws could get any real traction in that rotten stub! Reports below indicate it's a very good method. The post was NOT rotten, it snapped off in a storm. I did snap the ring on my first attempt, so it's the weakest point where it either breaks - or, by luck, the post comes out without the screw coming out of the post first. Hope you can confirm it worked with you? Good luck

I usually dig a big hole around the post then jack hammer the concrete. I don't think your method would pull all the concrete out not without digging all the solid around first then it might lift the concrete ball out. But seems to work realy well on posts with no concrete 👍 good video and very inventive

I've had to remove some 3"x6" fence post stubs set in concrete. If they're rotten, you can gouge them out with a 4ft crow with the straighter end sharpened to a chisel point. If the wood is sound, get a couple of M12 200mm coach screws and screw them into the stub top to form a V. Fit a washer on each screw by the way. Get a length of strong rope and a decent car or trolley jack. Tie the rope around the screw heads then use the jack to pull on the rope and up. Wasn't able to get new 3x6 posts so coach bolted x2 3x3 together. Use a power file or whatever you have to put a chamfer the bottom edges of the new post to ease them into the existing concrete.

Bull crap. I do this for a living. This would never work. Rarely if ever can you extract a post out of the concrete it is set in. It's very very uncommon. Next the wood always rots at the top of the concrete where exposed. Where the screws would be drilled. Rotten wood would not hold the screws. Even in the video his lever system did not lift even close to two feet. The depth of most posts. This has got to be a joke.
