This was so helpful! You explained the actions very clearly and they were easy to follow. You spoke at a great pace too, not too fast so I could work as you spoke. Thanks so much!

Thank you for posting this video. There are so many tricks in Photoshop it's all too easy to get bewildered and end up just doing the same old methods.

Best tutorial EVER! And I have been to thousands, and am currently in college learning PS, please know hw much I appreciate this, it worked perfectly!

Beautifully explained. Nice to use good old basic tools such as the Quick Selection Tool.

Definitely faster and more effective at wire removal than LR, even for Photoshop-allergic users like me, with Anthony's instruction. I will bookmark this one for reference as needed, because as usual with even relatively uncomplicated Photoshop actions, I will not remember how to do this a week from now.

Another kewl tool! My toolbox runneth over! Like others, I've use the content-aware spotting brush and been reasonably successful, but this is great. Something I have noticed about LR and PS is that there is almost always more than one way to do something. That is part of the immense power of Adobe.

I have an image almost exactly the same, could have been taken in same place and even the power line are similar but they won’t be a problem now! Thank you Anthony

This is awesome Anthony! I did not know about the Quick Mask tool. Just what I need! (There is some serious black magic behind the content-aware algorithms.)

Hello Anthony: Thanks for a great video! I’m interested in learning photoshop, and becoming an expert in it. Do you have courses that can help me? And is there a definitive photoshop reference book in case I need to look something up?

Interesting, I’ve always used the Spot Healing Brush tool to remove things like this. I’ll have to do some testing to see which works best. As a suggestion for another video it would really be helpful if you addressed how to modify the Clone Stamp Tool. There are times when there are no areas in a photo that match up with the angle of something for example. As an example, you are replacing a curb and grass in a shot but the curb either bends or the perspective is different. How do you match up the angles?
@johnpoindexter30903 жыл бұрын
I, too, use the spot healing brush tool and see no advantage with the quick mask. Although, I will be using the quick mask for other things. It seems, to remove lines with the quick mask...more steps are involved for the same result.
@leniehulse16213 жыл бұрын
I find the clone tool better for intricate work. Just a few days ago I took out some large yellow cables going across a scene and used clone, and content aware tools! I came across some angles in cloning that gave me a warm time a nd would also like to know how to handle this problem !

Excellent I’ve certainly learned something there! 👍 & yes I also would like to learn more about rotating enlarging the clone tool selections before committing the change especially if there are shortcut keys etc

What about using the healing brush and shift to remove wires?
@markkirker66423 жыл бұрын
This was working perfectly and I was so happy. Now when I follow the directions I don't get the red mark to show up when I press on the object. Also Content aware doesn't do anything when I hit shift delete. It's like I locked something

This is great featured and well explained however I'm having issues deleting the "marching ants!" On Mac, when I select 'Shift', 'Delete' I check all the boxes for the Fill Box to select Contents: Content-Aware, etc. But the 'marching ants' won't go away to see the actual edit!!!

I have been using this for easily & perfectly removing power lines since I stumbled across this tutorial 3 months ago, but since my recent PS update it will not work, is there an update to share with us or at least an answer as to why the quick mask isn't acting like it used to?
@williamweber63573 жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting this. I've tried it and other Photoshop techniques for removing power lines. They are OK, if you are really careful. But, let's face it, removing power lines from photos in Photoshop or Lightroom is pretty primitive in the world of artificial intelligence. It's even worse when you're trying to remove, for example, a name tag from a woman's patterned dress! In fact, I have done the latter in Affinity Photo successfully, but could not do it in Photoshop. Do you think you could do an A-B comparison of object removal in Photoshop and Affinity Photo? Or any other program that works even better? Object removal is a problem I often face and I'm always looking for better solutions. Thanks again.

Do you flatten the image before exporting?
@SLO_Foto3 жыл бұрын
I tried using this technique on a street light. Didn't work. Content aware fill only seems to have worked at 50% opacity. Anthony, it would be way more helpful to those learning Photoshop if you described the Photoshop menu commands used as well as the keyboard shortcuts. Thanks

Me too: Content aware was grey and it wouldn't let me select it in the drop-down menu.
@hilarylee53323 жыл бұрын
Seems great, but it isn't working for me. What am i doing wrong? When I hit the Q key to close the mask and make the selection, as well as the line being selected, the whole image is being selected, ie marching ants all round the edges
@rj9343 жыл бұрын
I use PS on a Windows computer. I had the same thing happen at first. I pulled out my iPad and watched the video while doing the process step by step on my computer. I had to delete all but the original upload and start over before it would work. I also had an issue with the content aware selection being grayed out. I found I was not following the steps exactly. I did not use the Q key. I used the manual deselect method to click on the icon on the left to deselect and it worked.
@LKWhitworth2 жыл бұрын
This didn't work at all for me ........ the tool doesn't follow the lines despite how small i make the steps along the power line and when I turn it off it stays red and errant do anything else you describe on here?

The Spot Healing Brush Tool works much EASIER and QUICKER because you don't have to go through any the setup procedures.

Photoshop is 31 years old, it is shocking how primitive this tool is, it shows in this example. Listening to Anthoni, it turns out that for those living on the ground floor, in order to leave the house, you have to go down to the basement, then go to the twelfth floor, from the twelfth floor you have to go down to the first floor from the first floor, please go to the second floor and then from the second floor you go down to the exit . 31 years after the premiere of Photoshap, everything is still primitive, as if time and knowledge of the subject stand in place. By removing the telephone line you cannot mark the two ends and get rid of the wire in the photo. What primitivism, just because the current line is slightly bent and cannot be removed by marking both ends what a crap. You don't see Photoshop makers soaping people's eyes by showing them beads of shimmering color. I assume that when quantum computers are in use, everything will still be primitive. Removing in such a complicated way an ordinary electric line does not comfort me at all. After removal, it turns out that tree branches are cut off, hey Adobe you are not worth a half a cent. This is just my subjective opinion, you are just as mediocre as American passenger planes, passenger cars.

Content aware looks fine in every single demonstration however in real world it is a pain in the ass, I'm telling you!
