How To Easily Replace an Audi A3 Sidelight/Parking Light Bulb Yourself

Driveway Dudes Paul shows you how you can quickly, safely and easily change a sidelight / parking light bulb in a Audi A3 8P model 2003 - 2008.
The bulbs are type W5W. They are easily available and can cost as little as 50c each. They come in clear and in different colours depending on your preference and local laws. They could also be upgraded to LED if CanBus friendly.
With the replacement bulb you may only need a pair of gloves and a flat head screwdriver to carry out the task.
The same may apply to other Audi's, A2, A4, A6, A8 and TT, etc with the same headlight unit.

Well thanks for the video, just educated me that a park bulb is at the front and not rear. Park to me would logically mean reverse lol ! Looks a right fiddly pita job. Thanks for sharing

A lot more difficult to replace and access than the H7 bulb but got the job done! I buy replacement bulbs from TPS Volkswagen Group. Far better quality as they are originals and last much longer than GSF bulbs. Helpful video

A bit of a challenge ok. There are lots of different bulb brands, ever no brand ones on sale nowadays so it's really down to individual preference and budget. Happy you found the video helpful. 👍

Very nicely explained and I particularly like the camera position for best view. Well done sir 👍 Don't know what it is about Audi and the side light awkward position in the A3 8P!I am replacing a side light PS19W on a 2010 A3 8P and that is nightmare even with the headlight out. Can't imagine doing it in place.

Although the nearside side bulb is a different story, almost impossible to change because of air filter housing and battery

If the vehicle warns you when a bulb is out then the car’s systems is equipped with CanBus. It’s possible that the LED’s you got are not CanBus

@@DrivewayDudes yeah it’s only worth it in this case because it’s booked in for an mot tomorrow, but holy shit it was a pain I have an 06 a4 an there’s so less space than yours an I couldn’t get the screwdriver in the space, I ended up using a tea spoon but thanks for the idea with the screwdriver

Hi Steven, The sidelight or parking bulb is a very simple bulb. The plug and fitting can vary. The difference could be dependent on model, spec, country location and possibly regulations. The A3 in the video is mid 2008 8P sportback model. In late 2008 early 2009 Audi facelifted the model.

Wearing gloves is recommended because your bare skin may transfer body oils onto the glass. A static discharge may also be passed. Both of these may shorten the life of the bulb
