A giant help. I was lying under the bike for an hour just stumped about how to get the spring where it belonged and the kickstand back together. Gave up and went back to the computer and watched this video. Bingo! Put it together in five minutes, easy-peasy! Thanks, Joe, you're the best!

Error? When Ever i see one of your videos, you keep it simple, thumbs up... Forgot the proper position of spring install. I KNOW , that on the leg hole, its the Opposite entry of way you did it. The hook end of spring faces the rear. They say it makes a difference ware , tention who knows. But when I put it wrong, as you did. I get a load squeak spring sound. So I correct it, sound is still there, but not as loud. So woundering it entry of end hook to the hole on mounting bracket makes a differencd. Gonna switch againg right now, cuz I dont see anything on inner connetion point . Thanks for the vids keep them filming.

Good simple video, of course nothing I mean nothing ever goes the same when i have to do it, kickstand would not drop out as far as yours did so i needed to needle nose pliers to bend the spring hook to get it off but everything else was simple enough. thanks!

Thanks, I dropped my Softail the in my driveway, the spring came off, I was rolling backwards slowly down to turn into the garage. The incline I was also pitching to my right, the bike was pushing me over, down I go. No damage, just a little embarrassed, thank goodness for bag and crash bars. A lot easier fix seeing it done.👍

I got a funny story about my kickstand spring on my 1997 fatboy. The spring broke and I went to a local dealer for the spring, and they had one. The part guy asked if I needed a hand putting it on . I said yes well we get it on in about a minute. So the spring was only 30.00 and the speeding ticket was 127.00 that I got on the was home. I was doing 70 in a 50 but the cop was cool and wrote the ticket for disobeying a traffic signal. And i just had to pay a fine no points. But i was so happy that my bike was fixed.The video was awesome. Thanks for the information.

I saw that also, but I was kind of expecting that as he does call it a kickstand and they is a definite difference between the two. There was also a patent put on the Jiffy Stand.

The spring was originally hooked to the stand on the front of the stand. But when you re-installed the spring you hooked it on the rear of the jiffystand. It will still work but I just watched a Ryan Urlacher video. He stated that hooking on from the back is incorrect. It appears that the factory hooks the spring on from the front of the jiffystand. Just sayin.....You didnt re-install the spring the same way it was when you first took it off.

You say that it doesn't matter but in reality it does. Sure, it will function either way. When installed incorrectly, the spring will rub on the leg. This will lead to rust, and premature failure long term. Depending on the environment (coastal salt air, northern road salt), 7 months is hardly enough time to pass judgement on long term reliability.

I've learned pretty quickly when the kick stand starts to sag a bit don't dick around replace it right away..if yhe spring comes off while driveing and you turn left and Don know your kick stand has dropped straight down look out for 15 dollars it's not worth damaging your ride.or gettin knocked on your ass

Happened to my buddy on a Triumph. Kickstand came down during a left turn. Wasn't going fast and he slid on his back. All good until he came to an abrupt stop when his helmetless head came into contact with a mailbox post.

You placed the spring hook on the wrong side of the side stand.
@ammalvonnostrand2935
@ammalvonnostrand2935 Жыл бұрын
You guys always make this simple task way harder than it truly is. Put the stand UP, put one spring hook on the stand, place the other spring hook onto the shaft of a long Phillips screwdriver and the driver tip onto the peg for the spring. Now pull the driver against the peg and the hook will slide across the driver and snap onto the peg. A 30 second fix.
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures Жыл бұрын
Or you can do it this way. Either way, completes the same task. Less likely to bust your knuckle this way. To each thier own
@tomb.8485

Disagree with you. How hard is it to remove one short bolt? You don't fight with the spring and gives you a chance to grease the pivot point.
