Tying down your hatch or trunk lid is always a challenge. There is never a secondary point to attach the rope too! There is a spot on your hatch or trunk lid that has been there all along that you just didn't know about! Only takes a second and your hatch or trunk will be secured.

Your quick and easy solutions for practical problems like this, once thought of, are actually so simple! That's not to say they aren't ingenious... Simplicity, of course, is the ultimate sophistication. Thanks again Chris!!! 🙏🏻

Thanks for the video. I saw the hook on my Honda Civic's car body, but saw nothing on the lid to attach the other end of the tie-down line. I had no idea that it was possible to rotate the latch using a key or screwdriver. Thanks to this video, I can carry a folded-up 42" dog crate in my trunk without folding down the back seat, which leaves much more space in the back seat for my dog. My dog and I thank you.

I have hooked into a drain hole before, but this explanation is genius in its simplicity. Of course the latch that holds the hatch closed would be a great tie down point! The fact that I didn't think of it before is the surprising thing. Thanks, Chris!

I'd say if your latch won't stay latched you have a problem 'cuz your hatch or trunk lid won't stay shut during normal operation.

I wouldn't use the cheap carribeaners. Those things are NOT made to handle that much weight/force. A proper climbing one might be fine, but check the rating. A ratchet strap designed for holding stuff down on a car/trailer for transport would likely be ideal here...
@chrisnotap
@chrisnotap 10 ай бұрын
Remember, you really don't need to tie down a hatch or trunk with much tension. You just want it to not bounce around. Those small carribeaners are stronger than you think for this task. They do work in a pinch.

@@chrisnotap Thank you for replying, Chris. I ended up finding a few videos that showed on hatchbacks, odds are there is a panel that pops out and a mechanism inside the door that can be pushed or pulled depending on make and model and that fixed it for me.

Oh great, now I'm pissed off that I didn't know or figure out something that seems so obvious in hindsight. Seriously though, I'm going to experiment and find a good sized hook or loop for my car and keep that in my trunk. This knowledge will be passed down. In 1,000 years everyone will know this.
