I ordered myself a jar of Marmite. First thing I did was to taste it as-is (just a tiny bit), and I found the flavour interesting. The next thing I did was to spread it lightly on a toast (no butter or margarine), and I quite liked it. I'll have to try with butter, next.

I love Marmite! It’s great on buttered toast and with a nice baguette. I like to use Marmite to flavor Ramen noodles: I get the water boiling, add about a teaspoon of Marmite and dissolve it in the water, then add the noodles. It’s wonderful 🥰🍺🥓

Great video. I like marmite but I use it like I would beef bullion. I use it VERY sparingly in soups, stews, to season meat, and it's great in southern BBQ. I do like it very lightly on toast but knowing it's savory and NOT sweet helps.
@MsJavaWolf4 жыл бұрын
I do that too. Marmite tastes similar to a very concentrated, slightly more bitter soy sauce. I like to add a bit to a gravy.

Yay!!! Someone finally teaching Americans how to eat Marmite... great idea! You are so right, they do spread it as if it's Nuttella. And do they even bother smell inside the jar first? One sniff would convey it's a fermented food (like a strong cheese) best 'not' spread so thickly.

Thank you for showing how. I want to try it because it is very rich in B group vitamins. But do not eat vegetable oils in spread or in any other form. It increases cancer change 3 times and together with sugar, increases heat disease as well. Real butter, olive oil, pastured animal fat, and coconut oil are much better choices.

Hey, come across your video. I'm from Brazil, lived in London and absolutely love marmite! We have it nearly every breakfast with spelt toast. 😋😋 The best way to discover and learn to enjoy food is with the natives. More recently i decided to try natto, so watched many videos before. It may taste "strange" at first, because we are not used to the flavour, it's an acquired taste and I think the same applies to any different type of food including marmite. Thanks for your demo on how to eat it 👍

as a european (belgian) marmite started to hit the international side of our store shelves a bit less than ten years ago. After the total despair that was the first introduction to marmite, i decided to eat it the 'correct' way and i found it tastes like frying oil, and i love it! i'm wonder why germany and belgium don't have a marmite like produce, its not like we're unfamiliar with beer lol. Maybe we make beer differently and would make good marmite, maybe we just have a mainly fat mainly sweet died that makes it odd for us to make marmite. A lot of it reminds me of Oxo (i think it's a beef stock or broth. My grandma would mix a spoonful of it in boiling water for my mom when she got sick as a kid) i'm wondering one could cook with marmite?

0:00 Two minutes telling you it isn't Nutella or candy; 2:00 Tells you don't eat it by the spoonful; 3:00 Don't slather it into your toast (like peanut butter or jam); 3:15 (Finally), spread on butter (that shouldn't be called margarine) and thinly spread a small knifeful of Marmite 4:16 a whole bunch of shyt to satisfy his urge to talk you to death. PROS: You learn how to eat Marmite. CONS: He spends 3m15s telling you how NOT to use Marmite. About 45s telling you HOW to use it, when it could've taken about 15 seconds. It's not clear if he acts out everything so he can talk a lot, or if he talks a lot, so he can act it all out. BONUS: He realizes from feedback he mightve talked a lot so he gives you a link to a 29 second version. And it's actually kind of funny. Save 5 minutes of your life and just use that link NOW. CHEERIO!

You do NOT spread it thinly. You don't spread it at all. You SCRAPE it on. Or smear it. If you're using more than a pea size amount, it's too much. And on buttered toast. Preferably with soft boiled or fried eggs.

He wasted nearly six minutes with the takeaway being to eat it sparingly with buttered toast. Really? That was all he could offer? How about buttered toast and a nice thick slice of sharp cheddar cheese melted on top? Use it as a dip with veggies, maybe diluted down somehow? Give some options. Not just toast.
@supertell3 жыл бұрын
Your idea of using as a dip for veggies is almost as good as a video showing a clock that turns off when you unplug it. Honestly I couldn't think of anything worse. Also you really didn't think about this comment very well. You complain about using it sparingly with butter, then suggest diluting it; that's basically the same thing. If you paid any attention to the pinned comment or the description you'll see there is a link to a much shorter video if 6 minutes of your life was far to precious to lose.
