I've been in a sushi resto in japan before. Since I didn't know everything about eating a sushi, the sushi master told me to eat the sushi however I like and however I want. He also said its okay to eat it in portion or bites to know for myself if I like sushi or not. The master said that if I'm going to like the sushi, then I should try to learn the tradition of eating a sushi properly. Such a kind man. Maybe he noticed that I wasn't from Japan.

Something important to keep in mind that a superficial video like this does not touch on: there is a world of difference between most sushi found outside of Japan and higher quality sushi or Japanese sushi. It’s not a bad idea to use ginger to cover the flavor about for lower quality sushi.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to give up mixing wasabi in soy sauce. Can’t resist the way wasabi get soggy and tasty and how nicely it sticks to sushi afterwards. Everything else about the rice, soy amount, and ginger makes a lot of sense to me and kinda came naturally to these habits.

Sushi is meant to either be a starter for a multiple course dinner, or as s light delicacy snack. Not really something intended to stuff yourself with until feeling full. Try it out as a starter with a consecutive main course sometime.

I think it diffes from person to person.... You CAN actually mix wasabi and soy sauce. I CAN and WILL dip my sushis in the soy sauce because I have never found a sushi that already has wasabi in it. Besides I enjoy it that way.

I won't lie. It bothers me so much when I see people drown their sushi in soy sauce. I just think "You've killed it. You just ruined the whole thing. Why not just drink the sauce?" It's totally petty. I never say anything, of course. But I always sushi-judge lol I don't even know why. You actually CAN mix wasabi into soy sauce. Just make sure if you are eating with others and chopsticks, use the other end to grab the wasabi. Nobody wants the end that you've eaten from into the communal wasabi
