Yeah I mean obviously mango is a genius in his own way but it’s just like he said, the old age of melee learned the game by just playing and he’s stuck with that the whole time. If he does put in the time “relearn” melee I think he’d find a new passion for it and be way better than he was which is insane to think about

Now that i think about it. it's kind of insane how different people learned the game in other ways. i got into melee about a year and a half ago and most of my prarctice is against 20XX, uncle punch and some unranked on slippi, where some people could only learn the game by playing with others. That is sick!

Dood we just grinded with the homies and you would hope your homies had a good secondary so they could help you get good at other matchups but most of the time you just grinded mains and struggled against the non homie matchups , when I first played axe in 2006 I beat him in Fox dittos but he met me in losers and went pikachu and my local pikachu was nowhere near what he was and I got 3 and 4 stocked from just not knowing the matchups

You're projecting your own knowledge of the terminology. He has talked about the "wavedash timing" being different, but he doesn't refer to it as jumpsquat or attribute it to jumpsquat. That also happens to be his whole point-he knows about it intuitively, but he doesn't think about it in terms of the exact technical details, terminology, or frame data.
