I don't know if it's just me, but I was hoping you'd straighten the car photo so the street was perfectly horizontal haha. Other than that you have covered the basics, which is much appreciated!

I like the way you process your analog images, minimal, and you do not kill the characteristics of the film with your processing, like most analog photographers do! And I process my images the same way you do.No white balance ,no HSL or tint!

How do you know that what comes out of the scanner software is the true character of the filmstock. It is already an interpretation of the scansoftware. Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with this way of editing and i mostley like the way that the colors turn out but negativ conversions are always an interpretation. E.g. i often see green casts that i find to strong in scans directly out of the software.
@voyagersquaremuzika5 жыл бұрын
@@cd4955 Well, because I've seen a lot of other scans of this film and they look quite the same, of course we have to count on the lens used for shooting. But this film shown in this clip is very specific and it would be too bad to process it too much! Of course the best way would be the classic way of making photos ,using enlargers!

When scanning you should always leave the boarders outside the scanningframe so the scanner can get a precise exposure and color measurement!

Lucky enough to own a noritsu so my sooc doesn’t really need editing aside of resize and sharpening. Honestly, after spending so much time messing with edits and getting the perfect scan I gave up and forked out the money to buy the scanner. Only regret I didn’t invest in it sooner.

why did you change the exposure on both the top and bottom of the first picture when only the bottom was overexposed?
@KingJvpes5 жыл бұрын
Johannes lervik Cuz the roll was shot 1 stop over exposed to get some pastel going! Adjusting the overall exposure in post allowed me to bring it back down but still get that color. Plus, I didn’t feel like separating the bottom half and adjusting there 😂

Hey bro. Great video! Not to long ago I started to develop and scan my films. I say the hardest part is the scanning and capturing the right temperature, shadows, highlights, etc. A question though, when you scan on the Epson do you scan with minor adjustments and then throw your scans on Lightroom to edit them a bit more?
@KingJvpes5 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Kottwitz you got it! Scans from Spain’s software are bare minimum, Unsharp mask, no dust removal, no color correction only thing I use is digital ice for color film, otherwise like you said, I take straight to Lightroom!

Good video but you should talk about sharpening, noise reduction and tone curve. In my opinion these are actually things more important in editing film photos.

Supreme Clientele couldn’t agree with you more!! When you’re talking about noise reduction are you talking about grain?

@@KingJvpes Natural grain you might get from high speed film or pushing AS WELL AS digital noise and artifacts from scanning. Both are important i think

pretty much all film nowadays go through a digital process. any lab you go to will do some sort of digital correction before you get the scans back.

What’s the point of shooting on film if you are going to tweak it in photoshop after? Just shoot digital then...
@KingJvpes5 жыл бұрын
Christian Walker believe it or not, but your film scans from a lab are all edited! No negative straight from the scanner will look useable a lot of the time you’ll notice color casts etc! That’s why a lot of labs have technicians who color correct just like this before they send it back to the consumer!
