VERY well done ! I currently use a Vietnamese editor but the turnaround time is longer than I like. I've been trying to find the photoshop recipe for how to do the exposure blending myself. This is it. Many, many thanks, Jim

you're welcome Jim! its a great skill to know, sometime the clients just want their photos NOW. haha

Terrific video! Is there a more efficient editing procedure for windows? Especially where a lot of stuff blocks the window. I recall another video using the brush tool to paint in the "window" bracket.
@fulltimerep11 күн бұрын
yes, there are a multitude of options when it comes to editing photos. Masking is a basic function in photoshop, so you could add a new black layer mask (conceals the image), then paint white on the windows to reveal. Playing with the brush settings like flow and opacity would allow you to get softer edges. However as windows are typically rectangular or square, the pen tool gives us precise selections. try all the methods and decide for yourself whats best for your workflow and preference!

@fulltimerep good advice, thx!

Pro Tip: When you blend between layers and masks you can just adjust the flow percentage at the top for a quick and non destructive way to adjust the amount you reveal/conceal!

Very nice work! I'm working as a freelancer now and want to master architectural photography. Is there any chance I could get some photos from you for training so I can use them as a portfolio?

Dont you need to click the HDR button under basic?
@NeonShores2 күн бұрын
That's something totally different, that's for actual HDR on HDR displays and has nothing to do with exposure blending which is what he's doing. It's confusing that the names are identical and actually mean 2 totally different things.

@NeonShores That is confusing
@fulltimerepКүн бұрын
@KrisCortez exactly what @NeonShores said, it extends the dynamic range for HDR enabled monitors and displays.

not a fan of HDR for interiors, I like the "flambient" method for interiors. Just as quick and easy.
@fulltimerep2 ай бұрын
for sure, I use flambient in certain situations when I'm needing a more color accurate image. especially when shooting dark furniture or wood features, flash helps maintain the true colors. the trade off is a steeper learning curve with flash equipment and more shooting time, so I alternate depending on my specific needs for each shoot.

@@fulltimerep please don't take this personal, but I find it bizarre that a photographer is calling using flash a "steeper learning curve"... Ability to use the light is a foundation of our craft. We should be capable of something more than bracketing in Aperture mode. As for "more shooting time", you get efficient if you learn it the proper way. Shooting this way and outsourcing editing is another terrible move. You will never learn proper editing (and proper shooting with editing in mind) if you rely on someone else. Learn it first (or learn it simultaneously by doing it yourself and having an editor), so you can be competent when outsourcing. I was just going through Photoshop for Real Estate Photographers group with editors post one after another. Most of the shots have no correction on vertical lines, windows look like LCDs on the wall, there are no shadows and the grass and the sky is ridicules...

Most of these KZbinrs don’t edit their own photos or really enjoy photography. Just doing RE cause it’s easier than other forms if u only do hdr

@@maciejgk Thanks for chiming in - I love candid conversations like this! I agree that photographers should be more than shutter pushers and understand proper lighting. Plus there is a huge gap in knowledge when one starts with outsourcing because shooting errors that cause problems in the edit are not identified and fixed. So I 100% agree with your perspective here, but I teach people REP as a business, and not just black and white situation where photography skills are the only thing that matter. That said, Real Estate Photography (in general) is treated as a commodity service for a majority of the photographers doing it as their job. Factors like cost and turnaround time can often outweigh the desire for having the best quality. Sometimes you're shooting an owner occupied home and you just need to get in and out to minimize the impact on the owner's day. Plus having marginally more accurate colors or quality doesn't matter for MLS pics like Zillow, Redfin, etc. Here I'm talking specifically about Real Estate - quality is everything if you're getting into high end editorial work like architecture. My second point is that I shoot full service packages. So in a 2-3 hour appointment window, I need to capture photos, video, drone shots, 3D tour, 2D floorplan, neighborhood shots and sometimes the agent video talking on camera. That means my backpack and hands are already full with equipment, tripod, gimbal, matterport, drone, etc. I have an AD200 that fits in my bag but AD400 or 600 would require a separate hard case. Then add 2-3 flash pops per photo and the time starts to add up. Its just not ideal for my workflow. And when I've tested flash against hdr, showing my clients side by side photos, I've had clients who preferred the HDR photos. Do you shoot real estate full time? Let me know your thoughts and tell me a bit more about your workflow.
