Happy Monday everyone! This is the process we use to export vertical videos on Instagram! I thought I'd share it with you all since I often get asked about this!

Thanks for your video! Are there any advantages of setting the dimension to 1080 x 1350 over 1080 x 1920 for Instagram?
@adiamond34 жыл бұрын
I think a faster option is to hit [Command + A] in your project to select all clips, go to inspector, scroll down to spatial conform select FILL instead of FIT. It will scale every clip up to fill your frame without any black bars.
@Forestryfilms4 жыл бұрын
Didn’t know that! Will have to try!
@adiamond34 жыл бұрын
@@Forestryfilms Unfortunately, you can't set a keyboard shortcut for that command. Another tip, set CMND + CTRL + SHIFT + 1 to do automatic speed (slows down footage to display each frame). I use that all the time to quickly slow down a 60p clip on a 24p timeline vs manually entering 40% speed.
@adiamond34 жыл бұрын
Oh, I had to set that as a custom command in FCPX. It's not set by default.

I imported at 1080 X 1350 but I am not seeing an option for 1080 x 1350 when I am trying to export, is there something that I am doing wrong?
@jasbirsingh1593 жыл бұрын
same here..any tips please..
@GagdetID2 жыл бұрын
@@jasbirsingh159 Yeah, me too until using video and audio as master file first, and then chose the costume resolution. I think he used costume media export first, or just different version of FCP.

Thank you so much for this useful video! I manually adjust each clip but i dunno why some of my clips are moving? my video camera is fixed.

This is already such an amazing tutorial. But is it possible for you to do a new video with the updated FCPX "vertical" feature? I believe it is the FCPX 10.4.9 version with the new feature. I want to use this feature to create #shorts and instagram reels and IGTV. Thank you in advance!

I also don't have the export option to match the quality of the vertical video. Followed step by step. If I choose share 1080p it's not available in the settings? Any other tricks?
@temitayoisme4 жыл бұрын
Lovely tuts. Quick question, is there a particular reason you chose to export using “Apple devices” opposed to the “Master file?”. Cheers
@Forestryfilms4 жыл бұрын
Great question! We love the "Apple devices" option because it's a bit faster than doing "Master File" then sending it to compressor.
@duanesaundersmedia3 жыл бұрын
Or you could use the social media cropping tool and it will automatically reframe and select where the focus of each frame should be 👀

Very helpful! What are the custom numbers if your footage is in 4k not 1080?
@Forestryfilms4 жыл бұрын
1080 x 1350 is the project settings :)
@midnightj19944 жыл бұрын
@@Forestryfilms So that clip you exported was a 4k clip?
@Forestryfilms4 жыл бұрын
@@midnightj1994 The original media was 4k but it was exported at HD 1080p. Instagram doesn't really like 4k. It compresses it too much. It likes 1080p better.

Hey one more thing. I am shooting my second wedding in Arizona in 3 weeks. What is the going rate for a second shooter? Im going to hire my friend or another videographer in the area. I know it depends. However on average for a 8 hour shoot.
@BrotherHenkel2 жыл бұрын
Is scaling in the same as just cropping it?
@singingdrums3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your video. While exporting the video, Fcpx does not give the potion in the settings to change to 1080 x 1350. Is this a new update feature. They have a "Vertical" option while creating the project but it is 720x1280
