The Helios' color really shows all the dirt and oil that accumulates over the course of a few games. Just using a ball cleaner and towel wasn't cutting it. Add a melamine sponge and it made this task much easier. I used an empty Reacta Foam dispenser with That Purple Stuff in the video.
Items I used in this video:

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - amzn.to/3BiCVzH
Master Surface Package - amzn.to/3oHHMFO
Storm Reacta Foam - amzn.to/34U6DPm
The Rag Company - Creature Edgeless Towel - amzn.to/3GE3PDm

I clean mine every time I use them. But I use a mixture of Simple Green and Rubbing Alcohol. Much cheaper and works amazing. I do use the simular type of sponge but it is less abrasive. It does not affect the coverstock like the Mr. Clean does. A buddy of mine used one and it bleached his ball coverstock. It also helps to have a ball spinner. I recommend getting one if you have more than two balls. I have a dozen balls I use during practice, leagues, and competitions.

I just use pure rubbing alcohol before and after my league night. Is that enough? But once i start to get that shine i may need this technique

Every 60 games or so...Oven at 200f for 5 mins. Wipe oil. 5 more mins. Wipe. 5 more mins. Wash in Dawn/hot water. Rinse. Ready to rock the house. Been doing it 30 years and no issues on any type coverstock.

Pretty cool. Never thought of using a magic eraser. That Purple Stuff is disgusting. Horrible smell so I don't recommend it. Will stink up the whole house and give you headaches. I use 91% isopropyl and that is really all you need.

Doesn't this change the ball surface though, as the magic eraser is essential sandpaper?

It's equivalent to somewhere between 3000 to 5000 grit. I don't see an issue, especially if you lubricate and don't scrub down really hard. As you can see in the video, I just glide the melamine sponge across the surface.

so a homemade cleaner would work as well?
@ConradCastelo
@ConradCastelo 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. The cleaner would remove the oil and the melamine sponge will remove the marks. A 2 in 1 combo.

@@ConradCastelo reminds me of fabroloso. I tried it make tonsee the difference. I used water fab and a tiny bit of alcohol then I put a dab of dawn soap in there on another sample. Not sure if it's close or not.

Does windex works?
@ConradCastelo
@ConradCastelo 2 жыл бұрын
Should be ok. It's on the list of approved ball cleaners. The liquid is really for lubrication so plain water would work, but using a ball cleaner would help clean the ball.

Don't use the magic eraser... magic eraser is abrasive and has chemicals in it.... use the ctd scuff remover pad.

Magic eraser is just an extremely fine sanding pad. There is no chemicals in them as we use them in car detailing all the time.

There are no chemicals in Mr. Clean pads. They are just melamine foam.

Your killing your balls coverstock. Magic erasers have chemicals built in that don't gel with resin coverstocks. The purple stuff is the only thing in this video that works and doesn't damage them ball.

@Jamal Mac I know. I'm on staff. Mr clean Magic eraser brand comes with chemicals already in the eraser. Chemicals that are not safe for bowling balls. The CTD scuff mark remover is just a eraser. Nothing is in it until you spray a CTD cleaner of your choice on it before using it.

@@300x2869 That's actually not true at all. Original non scented magic erasers (even mr clean brand) do not have any chemicals.... its quite literally just a very fine sandpaper like melnamine foam. (exactly the same thing as the CTD scuff mark remover) If you are indeed on the CTD staff you should probably be a little careful bending the truth to people trying to get them to buy your product.

@@300x2869 I trust Ron knows a lot about HIS own products, and I've seen things he posted where you aren't supposed to use the purple stuff with melamine because it breaks them down also. But that said, what you posted about magic erasers having chemicals is incorrect, they do not.
