Kindly help us make a video on security deposit fee... My particular interest is on how much money is legal to charge for a refundable security deposit fee in nigeria before a tenant can move .. Or particularly in Lagos .. can a landlord and tenant with a security deposit fee agreement and documentation as 100% the rent before the tenant moved in be considered legal ?

What do you mean by a security deposit fee?

@@BARTALKWITHOLA Where the landlord or his agent in addition to rent requires the tenant to pay a security deposit o cover damage and repairs to the premises, the landlord or his agent shallissue a separate receipt to the tenant for payment received. Section 10 (a) Lagos State Tenancy Law, 2011.

Please, talk about the proper calculation of a notice to quit and Is a 6 months notice to quit dated 30th of September, 2021 to determine on 31st March 2022...a complete 6 months?

What if the rent is on monthly or weekly rents? What's the month's notice,is to be issued on each?

Is there a weekly tenant ? The law stipulate you include a minimum of 1 month .. cos they need enough of that time to make adjustment

Doesnt matter the period.. notice must be clear calendar month .. minimum 1 month ..

It can be issued within or without an existing tenancy. But if without, tenant must pay for the time spent outside of what is already paid for.

It's not clear the explanation of a "tenant at will" .. when a continuous yearly tenant is in 6 clear months or more arrears...are u saying only 7 days "notice to quit" should be served .. then after a 7 clear days of landlord intention to recover possesion ?

A tenant at will is someone who moves into a property without any agreement with the landlord and stays on. If a paying tenant fails to renew his tenancy as due, he or she also becomes a tenant at will. Just like a trespasser or a vagrant.
