Top 3 underrated youtubers. I know because I watch KZbin all day in my off season. Quality explanations and song choices. Id love to see more Lari Basilio stuff but she's not even that popular yet so low views. Thanks for what you do Brother

I know you really like Mateus Asato (who doesnt really) and in that spirit id like to recommend Isaiah Sharkey. He's a neosoul guitarist that played in John Mayers last band (2017) and also played with D'Angelo. That guy is an absolute beast, combining a LOT of jazz phrasing and techniques with gospel/soul, I think youll like him and he'd be interesting to explore! Subscribed to your channel, just came across this as i am getting back into guitar (at the tender age of 26 lol) after years of not really playing. Im starting from scratch.. learning all my triads (major, minor, augmented, diminished etc.) and CAGED shapes again..

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check him out! Good luck with re-learning! Hopefully you can find enough material across my channel that can help 😋

@@DarrylSyms Oh shit u right, I didn't even look at the body lol. I just assumed it was the model single coil model because of the sound and because John Mayer uses a Jackson with single coils

Amazing. I recently bought a used ibanez grx40 after many years of borrowing strats 😂 But in this ibanez I'm having difficulty to adjust to the neck. It has a different feeling when doing thumb over chords because of the neck radius. And now i see this channel, I'm amazed how you're doing that. Maybe I'll just practice more.

Practice indeed Robin! 😄 Best of luck!

how do you think about composing music, can I learn something from your thoughts about composing (hitting notes etc)
@DarrylSyms6 жыл бұрын
Good question. Most importantly, I use my ear to hear what sounds good. I’ll choose a key, start off with playing some basic chords within that key, and then develop it into whatever context I’m aiming for. In this context, I took a basic minor chord progression, added some funky picking pattern, and filled it out with some funky triad shapes. Nothing overly complicated 😄

Have a question...I started playing with the thumb to root on 6th string and ended up with lots of pain to fold it. So any advice, exercise to work on it and avoid further issues to play as Hendrix style? Thanks
@DarrylSyms4 жыл бұрын
That depends what kind of pain it is. If it's pain as a result of stretching then time and experience will sort it out. If it's genuine hand or wrist pain, then that's not a good idea. It's also hard for me to comments since I can't see *how* you go about it? Your thumb or wrist could be positioned incorrectly. I'm sure I've done another video or two on this that might help - search "Darryl Syms Thumb Over Top" perhaps

Hello! I found a channel which helped me out a lot with wrist and finger pain. Most of the time it's not the fingers, but just some tension in the muscles (hand/arm) that need release. Most of the time I could play on without pain directly afterwards. Don't know if it works for you, but I recommend trying this. Channel is called 'DIY - Joint pain relief'. He's got videos on thumb pain specifically. Maybe it helps you. GL!
