Humans have always been captivated by beauty, and for almost as long, we’ve been marketed products and new technologies to help us achieve certain beauty standards. Elise Hu is a journalist and the author of “Flawless: Lessons in looks and culture from the K-beauty industry.” In this episode, she shares the fascinating insights she’s learned from years of studying the $10 billion K-beauty industry and the cutting-edge skincare, niche makeup products, and technology that promise to optimize our appearance. Elise and Chris talk about the real stakes of placing a premium on our looks, why a more inclusive version of “beauty” is worth pursuing, and how we can both enjoy and push back against the very human desire to feel beautiful. I find beauty in three things... Money, Sex, and Personal Power. My entire daily world revolves around judging people, events, and circumstances - and their relationship to me . Even though I'm 72, I still want to acquire more money, sex, and personal power. - As far was women... - I am drawn to women, of any race, creed, or color who exude their money, sex, or power. Poor, mousey, broke women,, even though they may be beautiful on the inside, are a total turn off to me. - I was born in 1951. A baby boomer. There has been no change in my outlook since I hit puberty in the 1960's. I don't understand (or want to understand) todays psycho babble. -

I think he's beautiful without a bunch of make-up (which is a sort-of lie).
