Spider Web Rose, very nice! I do this with silk ribbon, never thought of using embroidery floss.

Thanks so much, I've been wondering for ages how you do them! So pretty! :) Just one question: would these roses stay more or less in shape if they were exposed to movement and touch, like if you embroider them on clothes or bags, or are they only suited for hoop art and stuff like that?

You probably dont need an answer anymore, as far as i can tell you draw a circle and then divide it into 5 parts of equal size, guessing should do the trick, no need for rulers.

How do you thread a needle with a thread that thick? I can't get anything more than two threads through.

You can use a shorter tapestry needle. It has bigger eye

You can lightly mark with a pencil and then stitch over your pencil lines
