What king of rotary do you prefer for engraving? I want something as close to a pen as possible that's either plug in or cordless
@TriadoCustomEngraving2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dillon, Dremel makes Stylo which is pen like although it’s not meant for heavy use and not as strong. I have a foredom micromotor system that does not require a flex shaft, I love it although it’s expensive in $500 range. There are other micromotor systems out there, just look on Google and find one that fits your needs.

Glad I found your channel. If the metal is stainless steel, is it necessary to use tungsten carbide because SS is so much harder than a copper or brass? Is the speed of the tool a factor also? Thanks
@TriadoCustomEngraving2 жыл бұрын
So the rule of thumb for me, is using metal that’s stronger than what you’re engraving. In this case tungsten carbide works best when it comes to engraving stainless steel. Some tungsten carbides burs are built different and have different cuts, so I find myself trying different burs and see what works best. High Speed Steel burs will burn up quick if you use them on stainless steel but work good on copper since it’s a softer metal. I haven’t messed around much with speed since I only set my Dremel at 25-30,000 rpm. I find it to be the optimal speed for what I do. You will know when your engraver is too slow because it will catch and jump a bit, especially when you’re engraving against the rotation. Engraving with fast speed won’t cut as much but you’ll have the best control. All in all it’s all about personal preference and knowing what you like with results that you get.

@TriadoCustomEngraving4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! For this one I leave it as is, I like the rough texture that tungsten carbide leaves behind. I think the only ones that I buff out are the stippled cups because I always have some paint left over between the holes and it makes it easy to erase them with a rubber bit.
