great video, nowadays with so much information out there a lot of people start worrying about advanced things before the basics. glad you touched on this!

Shout out to you for teaching about post production for darker skin tones in your older videos. Some of my favorite KZbinrs have literally said this ---> "When coloring for Caucasian skin, you want your IRE to be at....", and then they just leave it at that. WTF?? Black folks shoot video too. I strongly doubt that there are any elements of racism at play here, but the exclusion is still quite depressing. Especially when EVERY SINGLE TUTORIAL does this. Shout out to Brit for showing us Black and Brown folks some love. You're the dopest.

Yeah one of the most embarrassing moments in my filming experience was filming an outdoor interview of an African American with a Canon T2i/550D and it turned out crap because I didn't expose properly. (It was a fairly bright outdoor day and I believe the interview subject was sitting on a picnic bench under a tree - I didn't have any silks with me, this was very much run and gun shooting) In post there was very little I could do and so, bottom line, I couldn't use the interview in the final documentary. I was far too embarrassed to tell anyone what had happened. So this is information we need! :-)

Thank you! Yes I’ve also noticed most luts created by Caucasians don’t work the best for black skin tone because it gets rid of our complexion. I shoot black culture so I wanted to make sure that was expressed as much as possible on KZbin!

Thank you!! It’s def a live and learn situation. I think slog def spoils us but I think learning the basics will help the growth aspect of a filmmaker.

@@BrittneyJanae Oh definitely. I just found a tutorial here on KZbin from an African vlogger here on KZbin named Oscar Ntege who shared his earlier photography mishaps shooting weddings with darker-skinned subjects wearing bright white wedding gowns using an even older camera than I was using when I had my disaster - he had to learn too!

I agree to everything you said! lighting is very important and I try to tell people that if you want a great image out of most of todays cameras you'll need to focus more on lighting ..

Yeah lighting is something that I’m learning more about and seeing the applications in movies and KZbin. Even though it’s an animated movie, Spider-Man across the universe shows a lot about lightning
@BrittneyJanae

It does! The more you get into it the more you see it just in the everyday mundane things and you start to acknowledge good lighting wherever you go!

Great video! Yeah - lighting is one of the things I'm really trying to lean into now. I've been using an Aputure 120DII for the past 4 years, but I'm looking for a nice 2 or 3 point setup for talking heads.
@BrittneyJanae
@BrittneyJanae Жыл бұрын
You can also use bounce cards for fill and it be cheaper. Also getting a tube light for a hair light is always nice. Also check out Godox lights they are cheaper than aputure for your 2 or 3 point setup! Practicals help too, to bring the scene together if you don’t have a lot of lights. I’m always looking for a lamp or some kind of accent light to use.
Жыл бұрын
@@BrittneyJanae Practicals... I know that's right! I legit used an Ikea lamp as a hair light, haha. Thank you for the tip! Didn't think about bounce cards honestly
