This was really helpful as I'm considering going to my first show in February. It makes me really nervous, because I may need to go by myself and I've never done this, eek! But I really want to know what quality my buns are.

I started showing rabbits four years ago and it was pretty confusing.. this video would of been helpful back then.. :) The lady who helped me at a show raises really nice Silver foxes.. Congrats on your wins! it's not easy to do.. you must have a good eye for meat breeds.. Glad you shared your wins, it makes me even more interested to follow you now..

Could you talk more specifically about how to pose rabbits for professional photos and shows? And what to look for once posed to determine if a particular rabbit may be developing into show quality? That's what I'm having the most trouble with, and surprisingly there aren't many step-by-step videos out there. We have pedigreed SF from champion lines, and are *hopefully* expecting our first 2 litters early-ish December. I'm trying to get a better idea of how to pose and evaluate kits once they're weaned, and plan to practice on my current breeders. I want to enter shoes, but right now I'm not even sure if it's worth trying with any of the breeders we have because I don't really know what to look for.

That’s a great idea! If you have time to join me live tonight, I’ll have some rabbits with me, just remind me in the chat! If not, that is something that I can go into more detail in the future. I talk about it a little more in my “meet my silver foxes” video. Shows are also a great way to get an opinion on growing juniors! Hope this is helpful 😊

What size transport cage do you use? I’ll probably do quite a bit of long distance traveling and want my silver foxes and American Chinchillas to feel comfortable.

recently I have been upgrading to a larger size (I believe 11” wide by around 22” long).

@@thatgothfarmer that’s what I got to begin with. It’s definitely not bad for juniors but anyone 10+ pounds is a bit squished when you add coop cups and everything. But I still use it and just take them out a lot at the shows 😊

how do they typically charge admissions? is it a per rabbit rate and does it vary depending on age, sex or anything?
@TealStoneHomestead3 жыл бұрын
Typically here we see an average of $4 per rabbit per show. So for instance, if I take Sprig to a triple show (where they show multiple times in one day) he would cost $12 altogether for show A, B, and C. Some shows require the fees to be paid in advance online, and other shows require you to pay in the morning before the show begins.

In order to show your rabbit at arba is it a requirement to tattoo your rabbit in order to show it? If so can you use a sharpie to tattoo the ear instead ( drawn on)?
@TealStoneHomestead2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s a requirement to have a permanent legible tattoo in the left ear. Just a sharpie isn’t allowed and will probably get them DQ’d
@luckypawrabbitryrescue52302 жыл бұрын
Can I tattoo a rabbits ear if its older like a year old or 2years? How do I prevent it from hurting?
@luckypawrabbitryrescue52302 жыл бұрын
To show a rabbit does the tattoo have to be letters and numbers or either or and how many numbers and letters?

@@luckypawrabbitryrescue5230 It can be either letters or numbers or a combo of both. There is no minimum or maximum amount. Just needs to fit in ear and be readable.

Thanks so much! 😊 i would suggest posting photos of him online on rabbit Facebook groups maybe. You could also send me a pic of him on Instagram and I can see what I think he is. Depending on what he looks like though, it can be very difficult to know if a rabbit is purebred without knowing lineage on them. I hope this helps! 😊
