You're not 'too soft', hun. You're a caring, compassionate and responsible person. Anyone can judge from the outside looking in, it's easier than seeking to understand. Ignore the negative folks and bear in mind, "They don't know." As in they don't know your full situation and experiences that weigh into your choices made or how you run things. And everyone experiences burnout, perfectly natural. Find what helps to lighten the load on your mind and remember it can and will get better with time and effort. You got this! ;)

You're not alone. Anyone who raises animals and lives a hands-on lifestyle feels overwhelmed and burned out sometimes. I'm a lot older than you. I've been breeding rabbits for 48 years and have had various other farm animals as well. I know exactly what you're describing. As you said, it gets better. If it doesn't, it's important to re-evaluate whether you're truly happy with your lifestyle or if you're just doing it because it's what you're used to. Hope you feel better soon. When you live where there is winter... seasonal depression is fairly common. I know it is not an option for everyone, but I moved. I went to a state that really doesn't have Winters like I knew in the mid-west. This was a godsend for me. I wish for peace for you.

Some people build small greenhouses to enjoy spending time in (not plants but reading a book and such relaxing activities) to help fight seasonal depression up here in canada where winter can get really long. Growing plants indoors helps me but we are each different, find what helps brightening up your energy and see you in next vid. take care.

There's more of us who care a lot than you think. I didn't grow up with this either, and butchering, culling, dealing with frozen kits and everything... It gets to you sometimes. I've been a lot more stressed out with it myself lately. The important thing is that we are willing and able to do what needs to be done to improve our herds, and limit suffering as much as possible. We are still willing to take responsibility for our animals and not let them end up in shelters or bad homes. It's ok to love your animals deeply, besides, it's you bloody rabbitry and you can do what you want! Hope you feel better. Try not to heed the naysayers. I hope Bobcat gets better, if not, you did the best you could and you can't fault yourself for that.

Do you think this could possibly be due to size ? What I mean by that is was bobcat producing milk for much larger kits and she over produced milk causing the infection as the kits could not keep up? IF you continue the project perhaps fostering some extra kits to relieve the pressure could help.
@faeleaf17410 ай бұрын
This is an interesting theory. I used to have a friend who crossed Flemishes with Mini Rex though, and this was never an issue. It could be a case of bad luck or something else.
@blyss33310 ай бұрын
Bobcat had 11 kits. I don't think she was over producing, and I can't imagine giving extra kits would have helped. Judging by the scabs on only 4 of her nipples, I assumed the 11 kits were overworking those 4 (and ignoring 4) and once the bleeding and scabs start, mastitis usually isn't far behind. I honestly think it is a fluke thing, and am thankful Tiffany caught it in time!

Apparently it helps depression as well, in some cases there is immediate cessation of symptoms. Do your own research, but it helps so many things that I'm guessing it will one day be known as a "cure all" for mental health problems (though other micro nutrient issues and toxic loading likely need addressing too). The bulbs wear out after a year.. the coating provides teh UVB somehow and it wears off the bulb. Hope this helps! @@TealStoneHomestead

Absolutely hate the concept that homesteaders aren’t allowed to be “soft”. Listen, I am not somebody known to be emotionally soft. I am the type to tell someone “I understand your feelings, it’s okay to feel this way, but you need to stop wallowing”. Very much a “pick yourself up” type. And I also think anyone who talks about how homesteaders can’t be “soft” is likely just hardened off as a defense mechanism and is emotionally bypassing issues, getting angry when other people take time to pause and think while they don’t allow themselves the same. Homesteaders can be “soft”, that’s emotional processing - we’re SUPPOSED to do that, it increases our efficiency.

God bless you dear. Yes, we all experience highs and lows. I am a Christian and still do, however I am never alone, my God sustains me. Philippians 4:6-7 New International Version 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. God bless

I don’t know if this helps but just to let you know fish antibiotics are not as strictly regulated as other pet meds. I know people that are stocking up on fish antibiotics for use in off grid or apocalypse situations.

you do everything you can. why not keep her company? if you love him and have a special relationship. or find him another family for company? is it possible ? Thank you for sharing this despite the harsh laws of the internet and human stupidity. I'm learning a lot from your videos before having my own farm in a few months.

What works best for mastitis? LA 200 or Penn g ? Or possibly BP 48? I don’t think I’ll have a problem with procuring antibiotics. I use to be in the hog business. Other things I always had on hand was oxytocin, lincomix, oxy tetracycline and gentamicin for greasy pig skin issue and coccidiosis. I miss having hogs. I raised rabbits many years ago. I have the need to take care of animals in my retirement years.
