i guess that's why he said "dig into skin." (assuming you consciously loose up on the other arm) Then you can grab the other arm and just slam it down on your shoulder to break it. Plus its not much on push, but a pull effect, which is much easier to do.

Then keep a small pocket knife (2" blade will do) and stab the fucker in the arm that's choking you a few times. He WILL loosen up. When he does twist and stab him in the face.

+logical fruit Exactly. Chin to chest and pulling down on the choking arm are definitely plausible defenses (although I wouldn't pull down on the skin, I would pull down on the whole arm). Also, you can't undo that support hand in the back of the head if it's dug properly. All those wrist locks and back kicks after that assume that the guy will just stand there behind you without doing anything (typical kung fu explanation)

People do that all the time to defend rear naked chokes. Chin tucked to chest and hands pulling on choking arm.
@victurchen

I train jiu jitsu, so I deal with defending rear naked chokes quite frequently. The basics is to tuck your chin to your chest and grip the "choking arm" (opponent's arm that wraps around your neck).

If the opponent has his supporting hand on his own arm (as proper), that defense is history. The chin down buys you some time, but apart from that, the rest is more fit in Bruce Lee movies. I love the accent and the explanation tough

I don't think people are taking the time to consider how long this video would have to be for him to cover all instances of "what might happen". He is offering an idea on how to get out of a technique. Once your mind becomes accustomed to looking for an escape route, you tend to react to a situation with less panic and more critical thinking. I want people to understand one thing. Wing Chun is about real life scenario defense. Yeah you could say, "but I do MMA he would never get that move on me, I would choke him out!" This too is an ignorant statement because when we look at the dynamics of a real fight situation, the chances of you having time to choke someone out become slim. If your arms are wrapped round someones head, how are you gonna defend from the sucker punch or football kick that is coming in to take your head off? Don't be mistaken by the difference between competition and real life. I've got a lot of respect for MMA training. But those that think it is the ultimate style are sorely mistaken. Ground and pound/grappling becomes useless in a street fight. All you doing is leaving your head open for a good stomping! Every system has its weak points. Instead of judging the weak spots of other styles, I challenge you to check your ego's and study the weaknesses in your own styles. Have fun and train hard!

you my friend just spoken of Jeet Kune Do
@brianhaydon9321
@brianhaydon9321 10 жыл бұрын
Well, considering jeet kune do was born of wing chun I can't argue that at all. Bruce Lee saw that Wing Chun as a system was incomplete. He sought to fill the gaps with other concepts. Wng Chun as an art is waiting to be unlocked for practical use. Jeet kune do, to me, is just Bruce Lees wing chun transitioning in to the combat zone. If wing chun is not unlocked, it leaves the practitioner at a disadvantage in a real situation.

Read some of you guys comments. I suggest some of you need to take a real martial arts classes instead of talking theory. There IS a way out of everything IF you have the skills and speed to execute. Not everyone does and it seems more people are skilled at running their mouth about others peoples ability. Actor or not, this man probably has more ability and speed Than most of you on here talking trash and you probably wouldn't last 1 minute against master Wong. Most true martial artists, whether they agree or not, respect the skill of another. We all can learn from each other now thanks to Bruce Lee (RIP) and his efforts to open martial arts up to the world and should respect the knowledge that another practitioner brings. If you dont think it will work, then it probably wont work for you! No point spending enery and time on something you already mentally convinced yourself wouldn't work fo you. Ignore it and move on. I already have.......

If I'm standing up, I've done the chin tuck, but then I'll bend down to try to flip them over my shoulder. About half the time that'll leave them on the floor, quick stomp and walk away. The other half, Ive made sure to angle my body so their legs are on one side, I'll grab their legs, stand up so their hanging off of my neck, then flop backwards onto them. That stuns them long enough to break free and leaves me able to hold them down or stomp & walk as I'd said earier

in a real time situation, u do it fast. u use ur chin to protect your neck for a split second then u pull that arm away. the time for your hand to travel up to grab his arm is longer than moving down ur chin. MW did not say hold ur chin there and tank the force. hope this helps.

I practice BJJ and though the first few steps are actually legitimate starts to remove a rear naked choke, no one is going allowed you to break their arm or loosen it so easily in the final steps. More than likely, the person (if trained) attempting the RNC will try to recapture your neck again. Getting out of a choke is an extremely difficult struggle against a person who is on your back exerting strength and pressure.

You got some of the parts of the defense correct, whats missing is that you turn your face into the bicep and push the elbow up so they can't transition to a neck crank. You also forgot to answer the phone where you slide your hand between the elbow and bicep to your ear. It's much harder to get a head and arm choke from the back and it gives you room to push the space between your attackers arm and your arteries.

Once you get the fingers twisted to pull that arm off the back of the head, I've found its better to not let that arm go, but use it to throw your attacker/opponent to the ground and, still holding it, lock in a juji gatame -- but I'm a Judoka, so I prefer grappling to punching and kicking.

You. Can't. Unlock. A. Locked. Rear. Naked. Choke. You CAN'T. If the RNC is correctly set with the arm going under your chin, you CAN'T tuck your chin like that. The only way to defend the rear naked chose is to do something BEFORE it is locked. You can't just stay there and say "I'm gonna do this, now I'm gonna do this... and this" when the choke is locked.

Master Wong thanks for a technique demonstration. But wouldn't have been better to tuck the chin ASAP then elbow the opponents sternum then grab his wrist and elbow then bend forward to throw him off you. Maybe even tucking the chin and bending the opponents thumb. Sure there are many variations of this counter but elbows should be economical movement along with a chin tuck.

this is a rushed RNC, his forearm was not placement and rear hand was in a poor position. I can say that chin can can work depending on who you are being choked by a white belt or basic grappler it will work anymore with more experience if the RNC is locked in you are gonna have to work. I agree with pulling arm down from under yoyr throat if you know your grappling game you can even turn around to face them if they dont have a body triangle on you. The more you drill getting choked by someone who really knows how to apply it the better you will get at remaining calm.

a real Rear naked choke is with your arms around his neck and your legs over his body/legs, your opponent can not move if you have him in a choke hold like that, that doesn't mean it's impossible to come out of it but it sure is harder then what he shows us.

First of all the choke is not been properly executed, second the choke always goes with the legs hooks, they are not been applied, you never push no one backwards before you sink the arm across the neck otherwise the guy,s head will naturally move forward blocking the arm going across the neck, bottom line I highly doubted that technique will work

Bas Rutten had a more convincing way of escaping the rear naked choke, wing chun is popular because of Bruce Lee, but Lee himself said that one martial art is not effective, that's why he started incorporating karate, tkd, judo and boxing to his arsenal, that's the very concept of jeet kun do, take what is important discard what is not.

Ripping his skin or biting his arm may work, but you are never able to get his hand like that. He has much stronger muscle groups holding his hand righ there and when you reach back like that, you don't have almost any strenght to pull his hand in front of you. It's already too hard to find his hand quickly enough. And when you get out of that chocke, you run like hell. You don't kick him.

The first thing he admitted was never to present your neck. It's over. As with pretty much any rear choke defense I've ever learned in various schools, he tucks his chin. He then attacks the secondary arm to prevent it from reinforcing the choke. I'm failing to see the fault in this. I'm seeing comment after comment from BJJ practitioners (forgive me, I practiced MMA when it was still called Submission Fighting, so maybe I'm not up to speed) about how it would never work because of "I'd do this, or this, or THIS!". Let's face it, there's not a whole hell of alot you could do against a rear naked other than to protect your airway and find a way out of it. This is his Wing Chun answer, simple as that.

Tucking a chin is good, but peeling way the arm like that isn't going to happen. In MMA the gloves stop someone from properly exicuting a choke. you'll need both hands to stop the choking arm. He is right about the chin, they get under the chin and it's over

he also had on a jacket, that helped block the choke.

BadgerBJJ He isnt explaining this from an MMA perspective, his explaining from a real life perspective where someone comes behind you and tries to choke you out, they wont have gloves on >>

That's my point. In MMA it's easy to peel the arm away. Without gloves on, it's impossible. He'd never be able to do it.

You need 2 hand on the choking arm at all times. No poking eyes, or head buts. If you're caught sitting like this, you're lucky if he doesn't break your neck. Most likely he'll drag you backwards, or try and rag doll you

but base on strength as you can see. if someone is stronger than you and heavier that probably wouldn't work
