I like how Bas is willing to say "If it doesn't work, you lose." Way too many people are trying to peddle a program where they insist that it will work every time and it just isn't realistic.

Rutten has some really good advice, and a lot of his stuff is very honest and simple. He has that "If you have to pick up that bottle and smash it over the guy's head to avoid getting hurt, you do it". He's very much a very skilled, diabolically thinking street fighter. The guy is no phony. Bas is a fighter. Period.

Actually the best way to get out of this is to say "Harder Daddy.". Also this defense is bullshit. The guy has no reason to let go. Of course falling on asphalt hurts but in a life or death fight where you are pumped full of adrenaline... I would not let go and just take the fall.

Turning out of the choke hold and coming up with upper cuts to the rib cage works wonders. That move saved my life many years ago. The dude giving the choke hold on me received three broke ribs. When fighting for your life you'd be amazed how strong and fast you can become.

A lot of things work. This is just a few stratgies. Good Call. I used Silat and Danzan Jujitsu and not BJJ although some of these body mechnics are simular the submissions are differtent and creative. Most Martial Strategies have WEAPONS and that must be considered as I had a friend murdered and died when her attacker used a blade to secure her and then raped and murdered her. She had a 3 degree Black belt in BJJ and boxed. It did not save her in Bakersfield, CA. Her body was dumped in a Oil Field. My wife was so angry and sad as they were friends. I always carry 3 blades even IF I have extensive training in H2H (Hand to Hand) combatives. I use: Choy Li Fut, 7 Stars Praying Mantis, Ling Sing Toy, 5 Temple Shaolin Kuntao, Danzan Jujitsu, Hakuakia Karate, Some Daito Ryu Jujitsu, Kito Ryu, Silat: Cimande, Cikolong, and Pentjak Silat and Ninpo Tajutsu/Ninjutsu ( no all of it). I use Indonesian Kris, Kermbit, Jian/Gim, Chiza, Katana, Dao, PuDao, Yari and Bisento Japanese Spear and Kerambit. I also fence with the rapier and Ape. The idea to all of this is to get creative and keep it simple. No magic just a lot of hard work before this happens! Do it before where thinking & Planning begins. the idea is toin your mind GO SAVAGE or go PRIMATIVE. Go DARK with the intent on neutralizing your opponent.

@stevechan6244
@stevechan6244 Жыл бұрын
@@danquaylesitsspeltpotatoe8307 It does work sometimes but the hard part is that it must take into account the height of the person estragulating you which is a death move and the power curve of your atheticism called SPEED. Most people can't pull it off and it is bye bye in 3 seconds. I carry 3 blades on me. I FIRTS cut into the tricep of the arm around my neck and evisceratethe tendon and artery behind it in the crux of the estragualation arm with a serrated knife or a kerambit and rotate cut the blade over to the front to eviscerate the tricep as well on the same arm. I then cut the flexor tendons and artery of the hand tucked into the pocket of the hand of the same arm around my neck. If standing I proceed to eviscerate by turning into the now dead arm and cut into the deltoid muscle so the shoulder can no longer be used. CUTTING THE DELTOID MAXIMUS, MEDIUS, AND MINIMUS. At this point he is already dying and you should be facing him. The coup de Grace is to knee him or knee on knee where you knee him and when the leg comes down after you step in to place you foot behind his foot and drop your knee and weight on the top of his knee joint to hyperextend one of his legs (if standing) to push him back and dislocate the knee joint and drop him. A guy like Bas Rutten who is tall needs this in order to drop him to your height and do next steps. Reach under his arm pits (if still too tall) and use the free hand to grab is chin and pull his head back and with the non free hand with the blade under his other armpit cut his throat and make sure to cut the carotid artery and then lace your legs around his waist and keep cutting until you semi decapitate the head. This is so he can not scream and alert other soldiers. This is how the Asian People get out to this move even on the ground. If on the ground with you legs laced by the enemy the difference will be not to cut the neck but to cut into the femoral arteries and leg ligaments in the knee after neutralizing the arm estragulating you. Roll to the side as the legs knee joints that are lacing you are also mostly dead or detached then roll to the side and cut behind the achillies heels in the ankles where now he can longer stand because the foot has not ligament structure and the artery behind the ankle tendon is bleeding the enemy out. He has less than 2-3 seconds of life and the rolling that you do pumps the blood from the bottom of your legs back into your brain. Make sure to bring both your knees to your chest at least 3 times while on the ground to help facilitate this or you still could pass out. The Problem with MMA is that it is a semi combative sport because there are no weapons while in WAR or in the real world there are. I learned this because that is how Special Forces does this and I am a Asian American WAR Veteran with decades of both combat experience and IF people want to use the term Martial Art... knowledge. I have neutralized many men that I can not count or want to rememeber. However, the training kicks in and those seconds move fast as does evisceration. The practice of weapon knife priming is the essential practice. If you are NOT prepared to KILL then you are NOT prepared to live. There are no second place winners only suvivors. Peace Favor Your Sword.

That's true of any technique. Even if you trip the guy up he could land and still be holding on to you. I've seen techniques used perfectly and have zero effect. There are people that fall outside the average (very tall, very fat, very muscular, etc.) where technique either has little effect, or fails completely. Fortunately, those guys are rare in a crowd, and your battle won't be with one of them.
@randallstephens8273

This is very much true. However those that truly know how to fight will most likely avoid a fight until provoked to the point that there is no other choice. An average Joe will be beaten easily if they make the mistake of fighting someone who knows what they're doing

I learned how to break that hold when I was twelve years old, from a book! Practiced in the back yard. I was 55 years old when I needed it. I was sitting in a booth in a tavern with 3 friends. Oil town. The attacker dragged me out of the booth with a choke hold on my neck. I broke the hold immediately. The poor guy knocked over a chair at a table, then crashed into two bar stools. One patron ended up on the floor. The bar looked a wreck and I was standing ready to protect myself. The owner asked me and my friends to leave, and we did. The next day one of my friends said that I had really hit the guy hard. I never hit him. No one had a clue. But all those years I knew how to do it, and other moves. I highly recommend all young men learn basic techniques!

These are excellent techniques, my grandfather taught Jujitsu and rightly pointed out, in a street fight if you pass out there is no ref to stop the person from stomping in your face and breaking your arms while you are unconscious. So if I could add a couple of things, keep your chin as close to your neck as possible, possibly get your hand in there. Also at least half the time when you are in a reach choke, you are on the ground and can not use the techniques offered. Here is the little trick, try to grab the little finger of your attacker and do not be afraid to break it.

Nice technique that works. That said, time is of the essence. You might have 5 or so seconds prior to being choked out and worse. The good news is that is enough time to get free from the choke hold if you follow my advice which works and has save my life several times on the street. These chokes can take many forms but what is common to them all is the choking arm elbow sticks out like a sore thumb. Turn your head towards the elbow (helps slow the choking effect) while striking and pushing up on this elbow while pulling your head out from the choke. Jumping up, jumping back, collapse your legs so your body weight goes downward (making the assailant hold your weight) all these movements will help you to escape the choke hold. Do everything you can to breath (turn your head towards the elbow) while doing everything possible to get free because you do not have much time.

S James Thank you S James. I am an old man now. When I see a technique that can be used to improve upon which works and is easier to perform and remember, I want to pass it on to the new guys. I have been doing many types of martial arts for most of my life and fighting professionally in Asia back in the Seventies way before it was the fashionable thing to do. I learned the hard way that most techniques are useless in a real fight. The other lesson I learned the hard way was that I had to find movements that worked for me. Street fighting and martial arts are not the same thing but you need them both in order to become a skilled fighter. I hope this helps you to develop your fighting skill sets or at least makes you think about what you are learning and doing. Good Luck with everything you do in life.

Good stuff Jon. I also have some experience in this 'world' and have always subscribed to certain ways of thought concerning defending yourself. Without writing a novel, I've always believed in a few basic principles (I LOVE the Keep It Simple Stupid way of life!) - one of these is "Plan Ahead". When you are becoming aware that shit is going to go down soon (ie - bar fight) don't be concerned with posing and acting hard; start to very quickly size up your space, your immediate area, your distance from the "problem person", and what you are going to have to do to him to end it quickly. Stop talking and start thinking...quickly. Things explode fast, so you have to have your plan mapped out by the time the shit goes off. Sometimes things peter out, and sometimes they don't. Be prepared for when they DON'T. Calm assessment, observation, and planning will do wonders. And believe me, there's a really good chance that the other guy ISN'T mapping strategy. You are..and you have the advantage at that point. Rutten has done some vids i the past talking about stuff related to this. Things like, be aware of what kind of weapons are in the immediate area (glasses, chairs, etc), how much space do you have to operate when the guys snaps, etc. The thinking fighter should win every time. Another thing I would suggest to people who ONLY want to stave off the odd bully or drunken lout is this - don't try to learn EVERYTHING. You never will. Learn some basic footwork, some basic head movement (a stationary head means you're getting laid out), study "angles" (there are some great tutorials on line about angles and levels re: street fight technique), and learn a couple of really good locks or chokes. A quickly applied chicken wing shoulder lock will end most fights immediately. A smartly applied choke (with bad intention) will also end a fight very quickly. There are some wonderful sources online nowadays that have a wealth of info on introductory self-defence. But truly, it really REALLY helps if you have a partner that can help you drill this stuff. Once you can transition smoothly and put offensive and defensive maneuvers into action fluidly and quickly without overthinking it, you will sink the vast majority of the phonies out there. But avoid the pros. lol . . . . Those guys take punches for a living. That's a different kind of opponent!! :-)

S James Very well said. You have an understanding that will help you protect yourself and your family. Your insights tell me that you might have been to war or at least you think like a warrior. I spent two combat tours of duty in Viet Nam with the Korean Marines who I trained with and got my second of many Black Belts. I thought they were good hand to hand combat fighters until I got my Black Belt in an obscure form of Hap Ki Do. My learning odyssey in the art of simplified fighting started and hasn't ever ended. What I had to endure to learn what worked and what did not work for me has been simplified by the Internet. The Internet is saving pain and suffering like never before. I am still learning even at my age. Thanks for the additional information to go look for on the Internet. I am always learning. It has been nice talking with you. Again, good luck with all things you do in life. And, be safe, vigilant, and always assessing your environment out there.

Thanks Jon. Take care. You sound like a very knowledgeable, humble, and respectful vet. I'm sure you have a TON of info to share...and therefore should do so. Teaching willing students is so very rewarding, as I'm sure you already know. I wish I had more people in my life to gain knowledge from, but . . there's still youtube..lol. BTW - Check out Jack Slack online. He has a site named "Fightland". Just Google it. He is a UK based combat sports writer/analyst. His writing is 1st rate IMO. He writes about everyone from Jack Johnson and Joe Louis to Jon Jones and Conor McGregor. His technique analysis is beyond interesting. He's also written 2 books on fighting centring mostly on boxing. I've spent many an hour reading his insights and break downs of styles, technique, and the physics of combat sports. And there's not many guys around who will analyze a Jack Dempsey hook and the mechanics of that punch like Slack will. The guy is a fight mechanics professor. Check him out. Enjoy Jon!! :)

She attempted to put me in that choke hold in the video... She crept up behind me, but she's only 5'1 and I'm 6ft almost... I didn't see this video at that time but I already knew a few of those moves... I ducked out of her choke & side-stepped my Edna, then immediately gave her a karate chop on the side of her neck cracking her C3 & C4 cervical vertebrae... Unfortunately Edna did not make it out of the hospital that night😩😩🤷‍♀️ She passed away only at 82 years old... My family was very upset with me and still is upset with me to this day... but granny learned the hard way that physical force was no match for my strong hands👋

The issue I have with those items that restrict your breathing is they can be harmful. I was watching those strange ER shows and a bodybuilder was using one. He ended up going to the hospital because it collapsed a lung. I knew that the elevation masks could do this before and this follows the same principle. That is basically training while breathing through a straw.

Whenever I see people in demos get put into the RNC hold....the guy at the back usually starts walking backward, dragging the victim off their feet and leaning back. The choker is too far back to reach and you can’t catch up to get alongside for that leg grab. All I can think to do then is lift your legs to hang all your weight on them....or run them backwards so fast they fall over.....maybe.

Attempting to turn your face into or spin or to the side of the opponent seems like the best option, much like spinning when caught in a guillotine. The best thing is, Bas has probably had this situation occur in real life to him many times!

I get your sarcasm but seriously if we're not going to trust defense tips from Bas, a former kickboxing champ, former UFC champ and former club bouncer, who are we going to trust?

What about a rear naked choke where your attacker simultaneously kicks the back of your knee, forcing you down on one knee? You should do a follow up video on that.

Well, you'd probably do the first technique sense your body will naturally lower. Or the second sense he will probably lift up after and you'll have some momentum to go up. Of course all this is easier said than done.

Hey hey, don't forget the old "hammer strike to the groin area"...most times the choker doesn't do the body position just right. So he sings soprano. The best is when they grab you and drag you...you're done. How tall the person is/or how short you are makes a huge difference as well.

I can’t agree more, fighting outside a ring means dirty fighting, so like, digging your fingers in someone’s eyes, ripping their ear off, ripping off their balls, you get me? Nothing is fair in a fight, there are no rules. I don’t think punching is gonna do much if you’re opponent just rushes at you unless you keep your head straight, punching in a street fight is basically a 50/50 chance of winning or losing

@J10-q9s 6 жыл бұрын
Muff Cabbage lol that's because you've never fought anyone who knows how to fight. If you poke someone who has u in a rear naked choke, in the eye they're not gonna release they're just gonna turn they're head and squeeze harder, you'll be out in no more than 3 seconds

I have never been shot, but I have had plenty of cuts and lacerations to the bone and they didn't really hurt immediately. I have also had torn ligaments a bunch of times and those didn't hurt that bad until after I sat down for a few minutes. All those hurt more later. The things that really hurt immediately were dislocations. Those really sucked. Just thinking about them still makes my skin crawl. But once everything was back in place, it was not all that bad, as long as there weren't torn ligaments too.
