Man, part of aiming is game sense and having a good sensitivity, I've had to change mines a few times to find out what works for me. I say this to say don't underestimate how good you can get. Luckily enough OW is a game sense game over everything so you can win at Masters and GM on heroes requiring low mechanics.

My problem with ranked is not 50/50. That's OK when i am where i belong. My problem is the vast difference between the matches. Sometimes my team wins clearly and easily, sometimes we get rolled. People are nowhere near the same skill. Not between both teams and not from one match to the next. The performances of the people who should all be around the same rank are widely different.

Well a big part of skill is the variance between your good games and bad games. So those tilted matches happen more often. It's just a nature of a team skill based game, if your team has two people having a bad game and the other team doesn't you just lose usually

In a team game your shortcomings would be somewhat mitigated by your teammates. And in a less team focused game their individual performances would have larger impacts

@@Tonypollyoly well no what it is is that usually there are 2 people having a "bad game" when both of those people end up on teh same team you have the stomp issue. In a 5v5 game, where two out of the ten players are bad and are randomly distributed, we want to find the probability that both bad players are on the same team. First, the total number of ways to assign the bad players to any team can be represented as selecting two spots from ten (one for each bad player). This is a combination calculation: Total combinations = ( 10 2 ) = 10 × 9 2 = 45 Total combinations=( 2 10 ​ )= 2 10×9 ​ =45 Now, the number of ways to assign both bad players to the same team (either one of the two teams) is to choose two spots from one team (which has five spots): Combinations for one team = ( 5 2 ) = 5 × 4 2 = 10 Combinations for one team=( 2 5 ​ )= 2 5×4 ​ =10 Since there are two teams, the bad players could be assigned to either team, so we multiply by 2: Total favorable outcomes = 10 × 2 = 20 Total favorable outcomes=10×2=20 Therefore, the probability that both bad players are on the same team is: Probability = favorable outcomes total outcomes = 20 45 = 4 9 ≈ 0.444 Probability= total outcomes favorable outcomes ​ = 45 20 ​ = 9 4 ​ ≈0.444 So, the probability is about 44.4%. that means it is just uner 50% of the time (if the 2 bad player theroy holds true) your game will have one team with a significant disadvantage

When I play bronze matches, I stomp. When I play silver matches, they get sweaty. I deserve silver. I enjoy the game enough that I don't care what the rank is, I just want to have fun. Sweaty games are fun. Stomps are not fun. I would love to play QP but I hate that they drag me into other people's messes and I'm expected to fix it (since I was next in queue). It was the same in Rocket League. Just play and have fun. It's a video game. Ranks are not life and death. Challenging matches are fun, stomps are stupid.

The rank is a reflection of your skill if you care about improving the skill the rank will go up no matter what, if all you care about is your rank your skill may never improve. I have a50/50 win loss rate over 300 games and was demoted from silver 2 to bronze 2. Despite my 3/1 kid ratio. And every game seems like I get a terrible pairing. I think Elo hell is very real. My wife has 1000 hour on dps and is silver 2, she played a few games with plat players and kicked their ass. I think the ranking system is god awful and should have to do with your personal stats and nothing to do with wins and losses

I’ve been in masters 1 every season for the last 3 seasons and I just can’t improve because I will get very wide ques because one game I will go against a champ and the next against a low masters that is my only problem otherwise I’m fine with the system it’s not my teammates is my damn enemies they sometimes are just better :(

It does feel kinda difficult to climb as a supports tho. With tanks being as powerfull as they are, they rlly decide if your team looses or not. Overwatch ranked rlly just feels like a coin flip at this moment. Either you get a good tank and you destroyed the enemies or you have a bad tank and you get absolute you destroyed. I used to be diamond 2 on support (from like season 3 till rank reset) and I fell all the way to gold 4. And I gen feel like I have 0 impact on my games. As an ex diamand played, gold feels impossible to climbing out of. Its an uncordinated mess with people that have 0 game sence and refuse to listen to call outs or swap requests

I was low GM/high master before S9. S9 and S10 after the reset I was around M3. Then smh dropped down to diamond. And skipped season 11 and 12 kinda. Came back motivated in S13. Placing D2, going up to D1 quickly. I am now D5 and my W/L is 28-41...

There’s actually a problem with Matchmaking. Specifically with Support. Before the last rank reset, I was Platinum 2 as a support on my main account. With the rank reset, I was Platinum 5 and at the time of this comment, I’m Gold 5. Now, I’ve been playing since OW1 and I have thousands of hours as a support and I’ve consistently been in between Gold and platinum (more on the platinum side) as a support and I’ve been in Diamond a few times, as high as Diamond 1 before the 1st rank reset in OW2. There is zero excuse for me to be punished by making an unbalanced team. I noticed in ELO hell, there’s at least 1 player that is underperforming and making terrible decisions and as a support, I will try everything in my power to help that player and they still fail. There is no fix, the only fix is for Blizzard to readjust the system and from my experience, it’s really bad right now. Mind you, on my Smurf account, I’m Platinum 3 as support after this rank reset and I’ve played no different in between accounts and on my main account I’m Diamond 2 in Open queue and I primarily play support. TWO accounts where I placed in Platinum. Zero excuse as to why I would be on a 10 game losing streak, outperforming in healing by a huge margin every single match, and still losing matches. It might be different for Damage and Tank Rolls, but in support, ELO hell is on a different level because you’re suffering based off of someone else’s failures.

This is exactly what I’m experiencing this season. I was diamond 5 on support and I fell down to silver 5 this season. Also consistently mid plat on other accounts. Srsly hate this season.

In the old ranking system, years ago, I was high plat. Since I started playing again, after Lifeweaver came out, I haven’t been able to get out of gold, dropping as far as gold 5, a few games before hitting silver. I’m always playing with terrible players, dudes that walk into a 5v1. I’ll have more damage as a healer (lifeweaver) than our DPS AND more healing than our other healer and the enemy healers. Sometimes, I kid you not, I’ll have more healing than BOTH enemy healers combined and high DPS with a 0-3 loss. What’s worse is that I can’t even have fun in quick play because literally 95% of games is an instant loss.

I'd definitely say drop the ego. Just watched it for you and there are a few BIG things I'd recommend. Don't be scared to ult sooner. You had a lot of ults below half health or just used way later than they should've been. Secondly, there are custom codes to practice aim and you were missing a LOT of shots. Practice your aim or at least warm up. You also need to work on ability usage in general. For example, you wouldn't pull early enough with your knives. Also, don't shout at full health; use it defensively to protect yourself or a healer. Play cover more, you're making your healers work really hard by standing in the open. And finally and most importantly, I imagine while playing this game out you were upset at your team during the match. There's infinite things you could've done better, and you're in their rank for a reason. Focus on yourself and good luck on climbing

About my ult usage u have any suggestions when i should use it i usually try to use it when the enemy team is close tg and im getting low, and also i try to use knives really to combo with axe or to not let them escape so sometimes ill throw it and not pull because i wouldnt see a point to pull, and idk its been 3 days and i still have nightmares of my genji getting rolled every time i check the score board.

​@@CkGamingzz For custom game codes you can use NMW98 for aerial practice or 5N37P for general practice. I won't go too into detail with JQ specific ability usage but I highly recommend watching a higher rank JQ and seeing what they're doing different than you. For optimal combos you can watch someone high rank but for general usage even watching someone 1-2 ranks above you, for example a mid Gold or Plat player will help you see what you could do better. And yeah I saw the C9 it was very painful and I know why it was tilting but remember that one of the things talked about in the video is the fact you will win 60% of your games (I think it's even higher at lower ranks) If you are simply the best player in the lobby. So not every game is winnable but focus on what you could do better every game even if you get teammates like that Genji. The second you start caring about your Win / Loss is when you'll plateau. If you only care every game about "What could I have done better that game? Was I playing cover well? Was I missing abilities? Did I shout at full health or fail to shout when a teammate needed it?" Etc. Eventually you'll start winning more as a product of that mentality.

I quali for like gold 3 and then just sink into silver 1 I main Moira and now also Juno (I can play others and do swap if hard countered, but I shine here) Every game I'm like 8k to 15k heals I'm contributing to the damage, kills and assists... I've played many games to realize its all a tank MTD. If your tank is better than the enemy tank you CAN win more easily. When I play support or dps and I give my best I win most of the games but still lose a lot. But when I try hard and play a lot a tank and take care of my positioning and taking space I win without even shooting its funny how its a tank game. The longer you exist on the field the better the chances of your dps and support to do something.

I get im suppose to have high impact, but it's still a team game and I can't literally do things all by myself no matter how good I am alone. I think people dont realize how long it can take to climb if you have a 66% win rate that can take forever to rank up cause you win 2 games for every 1 loss you get 20% progress on wins and 20% on loss meaning every 3 games you go up by 20% that means you need 15 games to get out of a division and that doesnt factor in games where things go wrong And most people dont have a 66% win rate on their main if your win rate is above 50 you will climb just gonna take some time its you just need to play more and focus on your self

I don't have a replay code handy but from seasons 4-9 of OW2 I finished between plat 3-5 in DPS every season then ever since they added the headshot damage reduction passive to tanks in season 10 I have been stuck between gold 3-5 (currently gold 4 this season). This is another reason that I think ELO hell exists for some players - it's pretty crippling when you invest a ton of time playing the game a certain way then the game gets flipped on its head with new passive abilities (which by their definition require zero skill to benefit from) and it's like you have to reinvent yourself as a player. Before the season 10 tank passive I basically played a tank buster playstyle, doing things like solo ulting tanks with Pharah or punishing inting tanks with Bastion's turret mode, which is basically a mini ult, and say what you want about this being a stupid or bot-like playstyle but it worked. For a while from seasons 10-11 it was like I don't even know what my job is anymore on DPS since I would just get chased all over the map by DVA players and I've only recently starting climbing again playing Mei (basically playing her sort of like a second tank to help my tank take space). I'm not saying I'm good at the game but I do think I should be getting back to plat at some point and I am still currently plat 4 in open queue, for whatever that is worth 😂

Here’s some data of mine for you. I was Masters 2 or GM every season of Overwatch 2. I was GM up until Season 9. Season 9 I placed Master 4, player 300 GAMES and never got to master 3 or below Master 5. Season 10, played 100 games, fell to diamond 2, got back up to M4, same with season 11. Season 12, DVA meta, I play sigma and Zarya and had a 70 WINRATE and am about to end top 500. Season 9 and 10 no matter what I did I couldn’t win, now I can’t not win.

My main complaint on the matchmaker is the distribution of the stomp and roll games into groups, so you typically get the pattern of 4-5 wins followed by the same losses and this repeats if you're in a stable rank. Why can these be more randomly distributed so you don't get the horrible series of losses in one play session. If the only thing that decides the game is your hidden MMR then why does this happen, there has to be more going on.

Being the playmaker as a support would mean taking over the roll of a dps and going for kills and big plays which litt sucks cause if I wanted to play and rank up as a dps I would have picked dps.

that’s why, besides healing, supports are equally responsible for smartly committing damage and utility. healbotting and hard pocketing is choosing to rely on your team to make the big plays. you can be the team’s carry on support just as much and as easily as DPS/tank (less so applicable to enabling-based supports like Mercy Lifeweaver)

You meant 80-20-0... 80% you will lose unless you play out of this world like Gods gift to OW2, 20% you will lose anyway no matter how good you play, and 0% are games you will win with average play.... You clearly don't even know how forced 50-50 works with the mmr system OW2 uses! Why have ranks, if the mmr will set the teams in the lobby? Forced 50-50? If you play 100 games in 1 season, which is a lot for a casual player, if you get 55% wins, you need to win those 10 games at the right places, to maybe rank up 2 ranks, no ones going to tell me it'll be night and day in skill in 2 rank ups, but the matchfixer doesn't care, it only checks you mmr for wins and losses, setting the teams after the current mmr, not your rank up or down.... Unless you play like God's gift to OW2, you might be able to single/hard carry enough to win 1 or 2 more games before losing.... Pathetic! Make every rank visible, scrap the mmr and current ranking system completely, go back to SR and use SR only! 1 competitive SR with a very narrow range, and 1 QP SR with a wider range, and make everyones SR visible.

Lmfao why can’t the content creators start calling out blizzard and demanding rank change with mmr? Hey millz are you forgetting blizzard has already admitted to something two seasons ago? Remember? “We take players on a win streak and put them on people on losing streaks to try and help the ones losing a lot of games to get a win” this makes your entire video flawed. Blizzard intentionally screws you. That is not a 40% 40% 20%. It depends on how many games you win in a row or out of say ten each game being 10%. Essentially blizzard is punishing you when you’re having good days by purposely giving you bad teammates when you start winning. If your theory was correct those “hard” games would be winnable if I did 2x more than ANYONE in the entire lobby. I was a high masters player from OW 1 for many many years when ow two came out I made a new account to learn the new play style. The game placed me silver, I literally take DUMPS on ppl in those ranks and the better I played the more the system fought against me and would start putting ppl of equal skill to mine on the other team because of the broken algorithm system with the new and improved mmr. Needless to say it took me six seasons to get to diamond again. I played on my main and guess what? It placed me gold and took until last season to get to diamond. In OW 1 I’d make a Smurf EVERY season and do a bronze to gm/masters with a new hero main I did this EVERY season. So no your 100% wrong and you should start addressing the real problem. @@Bad3abdul all the mobile healers and dps moved down to 225 HP. All armor got buffed so DPS and Support do less dmg to tanks and then on top of that ONLY tanks got 25% headshot reduction dmg. That is every other role getting nerfed except tanks.

I love this vid and think it's right on the money. I'm new to the game and I say you need to look in the mirror first and foremost. I would say to the players that are anxious to cast blame instead to try and help the players you believe are playing poorly. You don't know how long they have been playing or if it's there first time playing a particular character. Be helpful instead of hurtful as a teammate

Tbh, this video was extremely inspirational. I used to be a Mercy main who could flex support as needed; my rank fluctuated between Mid/High Masters to Low GM. In Season 12, Mercy's not great. I swapped to maining Juno/Brig and am now stuck in High Diamond/Low Masters. It's disappointing and frustrating bc I know I'm the one holding the team back. And the only way to rank up is by working on my own skills....(i.e. eliminating my own mistakes, going for picks more/not healbotting, trying NOT to get stupidly killed while peeking a dmg-boosted Ashe, swapping off Juno as needed, etc.). Thank you for telling folks like me what we need to hear! I ain't in "ELO Hell", I just need to get better!!!!

Shouldn't anyone who is actively climbing "deserve a higher rank", that's what climbing is, you want to be gold you play like gold. You play like gold while in silver you will eventually become gold. All rank is is a number mathematically drive from your skill based on wins and losses relative to the competition. There is no stuck. Every game you lose you lose because you are not good enough to overcome the deficit you need to. Sometimes that deficit isn't reasonable and you lose no matter what but you should always be trying to do better. I think people just expect it to go so fast like "suddenly I'm better" and then poof they become higher rank. Getting better takes time, you probably aren't a prodigy and you probably aren't spending as much time as an amazing player. I'm silver 2 used to be bronze 5, I think I pretty regularly play about a gold level and slowly my rank is going that way. But it's slow, weeks, months even. The smaller the gap between where you belong and where you are the slower that gap gets covered

A supports purpose is to enable their team in making plays, but when you're blessed with a completly incompetent team almost every match, it turns into a straight up coinflip. Supports have a lot less carry potential then dps or tanks. Being a great support might easily get you out of bronze and silver but try making big solo plays consistantly in a match after that. Unless you play pocketed dps baptiste you arent going to be able to

I've been playing competitive games for 10 years and nothing makes me laugh more than people at the dead bottom complaining about their teammates and general team disbalance when they are losing, but when their teammates are so good that they can literally win 4v5 or 5v6 or whatever else, those who complain react as if it is absolutely the way it should be. Up to a certain point in all competitive games people are so bad that no rigged system could stop a non-stagnating player from climbing up, if you cannot exceed a rating median(like me) that's clearly a YOU problem and the only way to change is to change your attitude towards the game.

Especially when I couldn’t look around coz I was busy healing. I started playing in feb 2024 and I am stuck around s3. Usually shuffling between s2 and b2 around each patch. Genuine question, is there a big difference between gold 2 to gold 4? On gold 4 I managed to play in this rank really easily, up gold 3, things get more balanced, it's not really easy, bot on gold 2, people have some real crazy skill and I can't do anything and my team get absolutely demolished

??? but the value you can get from doing even 5-10% more than your teammates is enough to turn the tides in many cases. YOU are the only common factor in your games. that little extra bit is what makes the difference between a 50% winrate and a 55%, which is all you have to maintain to move up
