To get it super dark you just need to increase the level of iron in the etchant solution.

Holy crap that looks gorgeous! The orange hardware pops much better now with the darker themes. I like the current colors of the titanium and the blade, but maybe once you've annodised it, I'll like that more! Very impressed with your modding!

Thanks for sharing how to etch the blade , just curious on the thumb stud removal , I use two T 6 torx and on each center hole , hold one end and unscrew it but maybe you have your own way of removal , Thanks

Appreciate it! The nail polish mostly comes off in the tumbler but I'll clean the nail polish with some lacquer thinner😁

Have you tried doing a second etch in coffee? That usually will darken the etch.

Did you never had a problem with fingerstains when etching. I mean, you touch the blade with your fingers when you cleaned it. I use surgical gloves as precaution. And did I see in one of your older video’s you added some vinegar to the jar of ferrochloride?

I haven't had any issues yet, but I should probably start wearing gloves🤔 I like to do a ratio of 80% ferric chloride and 20% apple cider vinegar 🙂

Does wd40 actually “soak” into metal as if it’s porous..?

It soaks into the etched outer surface.

I don't believe it does, from my understanding, etching the steel only causes the surface to change.

The best result I get for a darker wash is after the etching/stonewash, I'll clean the blade really well, sharpen the blade and then let it soak with WD40 over night.🙂
