You'll probably never read this but I want to thank you, i always loved the eclipse since the intro of NFS underground, i'm 20, thanks to this video, geuninely all your videos its pushed me to go to college and and learn mechanics in a new found passion, i'm buying my first eclipse this month and honestly i want to rebuild the car from new and do an evo swap, i would be lying if i said I wasn't doubting myseld so i hope in the future i'm more cofident, i've shown you to all my friends. Don't listen to people on DSM forum. This swap is absolutely a must and it is easier than people think. Much easier than doing awd Hondas. Think about what Honda people are willing to do by welding and hacking shit up on the back end just to put a diff in the back. Dsm platform has it easy.

@@MiguelDsm yes everybody should be doing that to 420a shell and heck even 4g63 dsms; why? Think about the option of putting a brand new evo motor that you can literally buy from a dealership and stock parts that are abundantly available. The last I checked Mitsubishi dont make the motor or trans for the dsm anymore. Some of these used dsm motors are now 20 years old and you can hardly find them anywhere.

I’m going to give you a idea !! I k swapped my eg civic and the best think I got was the mount kit with the bolt on bracket to mount the engine!! If you design something similar I guarantee you can sell this And I will buy one too

13:15 is exactly why everyone on DSMtuners advises against this swap. You spent $10k on the swap itself, and while yes you do have something unique (not knocking that at all, I’ve read through your build profile a couple times and appreciate everything you’ve accomplished with this car), most people aren’t going to want to spend that much when they can get a GSX in good condition for $5-$6k. Anytime someone asks if it can be done, the answers are typically “yes, but whether or not it SHOULD be done is a more realistic question.”

Still good to see get done; why do I personally say that? because less GSX exist everyday. They get wrecked, turned into meme race cars (throtl copying F&F green thing), etc. So one day in the future, this swap will be cheaper than a GSX. I'm hoping to get one before the prices blow up. I've watched this happen with other cars I love over the decades, this one I figure will be 20-30k by 2030. Doesn't matter if they ever get expensive (besides people who can't afford maintenance buying them) to me personally; I'm looking for investment returns; the return in investment for me would be driving the car! What is the best source for finding GSX for $6k? DSM focused forums would be my guess, but any direction you could give (if you still exist)? I talked my wife into getting one (had a 97 Spyder GS-T, wish I had bought the GSX instead, young, wanted a convertible -_-), so hunting. I have her set on getting an RX-8, and I get an FD in the long term future because they are 2-3x more expensive than they were last I was looking >_> I've been owning FCs and 8s most of the last 25 years, but still miss driving my 2G. A friend had a 1G he bought and didn't know how to drive, I got to teach him and drive him around a bit and it was nice too; but the 97-99 GSX has always stayed on my car list, I still remember the test drive from over 20 years ago. anyway, hope your life is treating you well :)

@@zakuraayame5091 I just bought a clean title silver 97 gsx for 7k, while driving it to my friends house which is an hour drive from where I bought it, the car ended up dropping all of its oil pressure and getting rod knock, literally barely made it to his house with a blown engine, gave that shit back to the owner the next day and got my 7k back…if it wasn’t for me already having 4 other project cars I would have kept it and done an evo 8 swap as well

Hey man, Evo 3 engines are available in my country I think it's an easy swap on GST models since the engine mounting points are pretty much the same, I'm just being anxious on how to do the rear end I have no knowledge on underchassis works.

No one ever know what it’s the real engine for Mitsubishi Eclipse, but for certain reason, it had included in the same engine with all the equipped Lancer Evolutions engines of today..and this might be the first ever car that reaches GSR qualifications in street races.

What's up Mikey from Colorado need some advice for my 2002 Mitsubishi eclipse 3.0 v 6 Having transmission problems. Won't go into gear, I changed the fluid check the solenoids they seem to be fine. Wondering if there is a way to test the sensors pretty expensive if I don't need them I ran a test no codes. Help me out my Eclipse Brothers

4g64 awd swap is also an option for people who are budget minded. You can literally go to a junk yard and pick up 4g64 for roughly $200. The rest is just gsx and evo parts.
