@@PeteJohnsMusic well then success. You’ve done extremely well. You have inspired me to do much better work in my music. My head is always cluttered with parts, and thoughts of music. Very much like so many of us musical writers. You’ve given me access to a satisfying method of putting these down, and letting off the pressure in my grey old hard drive in the head. Best thing, is that I’m enjoying it immensely. Every time you put out another tip/trick, a new door flies open and boom, my work, if you will, becomes more accessible. So after all that, thank you very much. You obviously love what you are doing, and this shows. Warmest regards to you and family, Humblehombre.

That’s really neat and I’m glad you learned what you needed to; but just for the sake of learning, mastering doesn’t require stems; in fact most mastering engineers only want your bounced WAV file in 24b 48k formatting and they can then load up pro tools, or their daw of choice and master the track. Stems, is more of a method of mixing.

Really annoying, I think Apple shoot themselves in the foot by deliberately making stuff incompatible. It seems obvious that people will use their pads as a portable studio but then want to export the files to a fully configured DAW for mixing/editing. I bought an iPad because I read how good GarageBand was on it........ very disappointed with it. So, off to get Audioshare and another level of complexity.

Can’t see any way to do this other than how you put it here, but as you well know Pete, it’s a heck of a juxtaposition, to consider this process, up against Cubasis. I mean, I dunno the overall process, but a key part of this, was to convert any MIDI or drummer parts into audio waveform tracks/channels. And, as I pottered my way through this workaround, I thought ‘blimey, in Cubasis I’d just hit ‘freeze’ and with one click and a second or two passing, it’d be done.’ !

@@PeteJohnsMusic On the ipad yes, but you know better than me, there is always ‘going big’ and the Mac Mini M1 really is Apple hammering their flag into the outback of home computer capability (!). With the big brother version of GB there, probably sweeping away almost all these limits, it’s the cost of plugins that halts me on that score. If there is a way, to run iOS GB via the Mac mini M1 and open up the RAM limiting factor while enabling iOS plugins to work, many would be interested? I know it is said you can throw GB iOS up on the Mac Mini monitor, but the detailed running in this mode is unexplored country. Somebody said the view is small, for some reason, it does not expand out to fill a big monitor attached to a Mac Mini M1. Settings need to work on the plugins too, these are all fine-tuned, to redo that aspect, is to do a lot of painstaking work twice over. I am not really complaining, in a way, because patently if they’d given iPad Pro 8Gb of RAM, I wouldn’t look twice at the Mac Mini M1. Still love GB iOS, it’s the original and best to me.

Hey Pete ! Thank you for all information.I have a question.I’m trying to export a vocal from GarageBand to Cubase but send the vocals as stereo and I want it mono. How can I send it to cubase as mono?
@PeteJohnsMusic3 жыл бұрын
Hey there. GarageBand doesn’t really support mono at all. I would convert to mono using something like AudioShare - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIK7lnZ6ipp5isk

Hi Pete, I am a bit ancient but I learn a lot from your tutorials. One thing bugs me is the version I use is 10.4.2 and everything you show in your videos is completely different to what I see...

You’re likely using GarageBand Mac which has some similarities but it quite different. Check out my mate Patrick over at the GarageBand Guide for more Mac stuff.

Wow. Just wow. I recently started to use an Ipad "Pro" and just got into Garageband. Came here because I couldn't figure out how to export and thought that surely I must have some sort of brain freeze and I'm just missing something very obvious, only to find out, it really isn't me, but the insanity of IOS and Garageband. Same as pretty much all of the file management on IOS. Absolutely unbelievable how the complete myth of everything Mac being so user friendly and intuitive is still alive. This is like someone sat down and tried to figure out how to make it most complicated and painful to export stems and most importantly involve as many clicks as possible to execute what could be a very simple task. It's not just " not so great", or "could be better" in terms of usability and UX. It is mindbogglingly bad and would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. Regardless though, thanks a lot for the video.

Yup. I’m not going to SEONN any time defending Apple for the way their file management works. It is lacking. But unfortunately Android just doesn’t cut it for audio recording at all.

A friend was sending all his GB songs as .M4a files and they worked great in GB. But he recently sent me a song as an .mp3. The MP3 would not change speed as I changed the tempo in GB, but the .m4a files were following whatever tempo I set in GB. Which led to the question. What BPM was the original recorded at? I asked him to start including BPM in the filenames.
@PeteJohnsMusic3 жыл бұрын
Yeah knowing the BPM is definitely keyboard. If you need to change it you can use something like this - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJOoq5uvnLakndk

Cheers Pete! My question is how do I export/transfer my midi sequencer song files or tracks on my Korg Krome to Garage Band?
@PeteJohnsMusic3 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question? Not something I have experienced with sorry. Maybe ask the folks over at the GarageBand Users Facebook group. Http://studiolivetoday.com/gbu

Save them as a wav through another daw, then open them with the loop button in GarageBand. Make sure your tempo and key match.

@@nicholasjames5471 thanks so much for the advice! I’m doing it all on my iPhone but working on getting a MacBook from my cousin. Can I do this on my iPhone?
@nicholasjames54713 жыл бұрын
@@efrainlopez1260 should be able to if you save it in the “files” app on you phone as a .wav. Then just click on the loop on the top right of GB, then on the top of the loop menu that opens up, click on the right option “files” at the top. Select your file app, and click on and drag over the loop into a track. Make sure you set your bpm, and BAM! You can also play like a one bar note for example from your Korg in a middle c, then open up the sampler, and load the sound in the sampler and play it in GB. That’s how I do all of my songs, I don’t use many sounds that came with GarageBand and I don’t play instruments. I use sounds from sounds.com and KZbin to make music with.
